Hello,

I've just started kiteboarding, i've done the lessons and have been out a few times by myself and have only had one real solid session where i got up and kept going consistently. Unfortunately due to lack of winds when i was attempting to learn it was a long drawn out process so i was bit delayed and ended up completing the training at the end of the season. As part of the original kit i purchased a liquid force contact 137 X 41 board. As the winds are a bit on and off at the moment i started looking at light wind boards. I picked up a 8 year old LF board 140 X 46 in fair condition for cheap to help learning especially in the winter wins. The bottom coating is peeling on one end of the bottom.
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on using this board as a learning/light wind board. OR should i be looking at getting a better bigger board. I have been looking at the light wind boards Crazy Fly LW cruiser and Litewave Wing but there is obviously quite a additional expense to get these boards. I'm around 83kg using a 12mtr kite in what seems to be around 10-20knot winds currently.
Should i continue with what i have or do you think getting a better board will help my progression.

Cheers,
Mark

Hey Mark,
commitment = learning in winter. onya m8.
140x 46 is FAIRLY good for LW, certainly WAY better than the 137x41, speshally if it's got low rocker.
Big LW boards can open up a whole new world of kiting (ie 3-5 kts lower than ever before) but as the say "oils aint oils"
That particular LW board you mentioned is the biggest piece of junk i ever rode. Not that good at upwind, turns like a semi trailer in a back alley and feels as lively as Queen Mary. Basically a coffee table in masquerade.
North Spike, SS Glide, Cabrinha Plasma, are all really good fun boards that eat the cruiser out every meal of the day and do it with style. You're better off sticking fins on your ironing board than that. nuff said okay.

Thanks for that. When you say the particular LW board which one were you refering or did you mean both? I mentioned the Crazy Fly LW and the Litewave Wing.

Thanks again really appreciate the feedback.
