hey kiting bretheren , ive just started kiteboarding in the last few months on the mornington peninsula and was just wondering about a few things
1 / what time/months of the year has the most consistent/strongest winds ?
I am a heavy weight unit( 108kg's & 185 cm )and am riding a 14 meter kite and 140 cm board and am up and riding and working on riding upwind, riding on my weaker side/switch foot, and sliding turns etc . and loving the sport ,when there is wind .
2 / what size kite should I get for my higher wind kite I have been told to get an 11 meter kite which from all the reasearch I have done sounds right ,however I'm not even getting my 14 out lately , so am reluctant to buy an 11 unless I know that it's gonna be on in the coming months , not scared of the cold so will be all over it if the conditions are right but dont really want 2 kites in the garage getting dusty ,
3/is it the right time of year to buy an 11 or should I wait untill next years models arrive ?if it wont be getting used soon
I know there has been a couple of days recently that have been ok but I have missed em due to work commitments and havent been in the water for 3 - 4 weeks
the missus is riding me hard about spending another $2 k on a smaller kite when I keep whinging that its not windy enough to get out there on the 14 , any constructive advice would be appreciated , cheers
