Well,
In my ultimate quest to find the right gear to get out there when the wind is just not on...
In short, I found that you need a wider board rather than longer one.

First, I bought a Spleene 167x46, big board for German riders I believe. It is was a great idea but you can't do anything: backroll is no fun, switching is almost impossible, transition requires an unfair amount of power etc...
I then got a 144 but again, hard to see the fun in going in and out, losing a bit of ground each time to finally walk the beach carrying a rather big board. The 144 was a no go!

At the end of the season, I got one of those skimboard for Kiteboarding, Fun, new, tricky and an endless combination of moves... You'll also walk the beach a little at first but for all the right reasons.

Good Kiting,

I have used the slingshot glide and that was really good, but in light winds your not really going to be doing jumps, rolls etc good for cruising on flat watter and goes up wind easily. I personaly prefer the nobile skim for light winds its just a bit more fun trying little pop shuvs, and ollies plus ridding with no straps just adds that little bit more of a chalenge and keeps light wind kiting less borring. Plus you can still ride it once the wind picks up it carves a nice edge. Pluss it costs a lot less than a big board.

duno what the hell airush were thinking with their boards this season... no offence to them but hell they really F'd up big time with the high end models....

BUT on the positive note the switch came out really really well and is IMO the best board in their line up this summer

i have a 2008 switch in a 144 and also in a 138, i find the boards just fine. goes up wind easy, good pop, easy to rotate on, and the bindings are just so comfy, not too heavy (say 1/2kg more than a cardboard in the same size) bit wider than the rest (except the LF WLF!) but on that most boards are going wider. great for light wind and strong, i find it a great all round board! i only recently just got a 138 and just starting to use it in strong winds and waves.
Really depends on how much you weigh and height, i am 6'4" and 93kg, and i like my 144, as i said before good allround board and relatively cheap, i see alot on the buy sell page, try get a good bargin on one of them.
happy kitin' hope u catch some good wind!
