What sheet diameter and material do you use and why?

The IBRA rules state that the minimum mainsheet diameter as 6mm. What is the maximum diameter?

Does anyone use different sheets for different conditions? E.g. 6mm for light winds and 8mm for stronger winds.

A 10-12mm mainsheet would be comfortable to hold in a strong breeze however would you need to upgrade the size of your Ratchet block and Blocks ($$$$$)

Can Production modify the mainsheet or is it only Performance Class?

We just use the standard sheet ropes that come with the sail from Blokart. Some people do change them if they break. I noticed some of our older ones are getting thinner which may be due to slightly stretching and it does feel more comfortable using the thicker ropes so may look at changing a couple of them soon

As per the IBRA Rules Edition 4 the current rules regarding Running Rigging are clear.

Rule B.10.1 - Unmodified downhaul and main sheet systems of standard BIL MUST be used - Production Yes / Performance No. This would mean that if you are going to race in production you must use the supplied sheets from Blokart or use one of the same material and diameter.

Rule B.10.4 - Main sheet ropes may be of any type but the minimum sheet diameter shall be 6mm only applies to Performance class.

You need to remember that the supplied blocks on your sail and pulley whip are free spinning tackle, the larger the diameter of your sheet the more surface area on the block causing more friction.
