Well, All I can say about Anthony Beach is that it is very fast in heavy winds i.e. 30 to 40knots Bloody scary when the machine takes the bit between its teeth and runs like the wing and staying away from the soft sand near the Dunes is advisable as the Mast Head wants to act like the wheels. Yes I capsized on it .. I worked about 7 kilometers of the beach yesterday until I blew the Luff edge of my sail inside the pocket.. Until then I was having a ball. The photos below will answer most questions and the majority of the surface is as hard as your forehead. Ron

Don't I wish Paul, A bit of company/ Sailing companions would be great.. Pegg's is lovely, Anthony-s is Bloody Great-------------and especially in 30 to 40 Knots.. One thing that should be remembered however is to not the beach entry area cos once you're out there and looking for your way home it is Damned hard to see (Only thing that gave me a clue was a single white post half hidden in long grass. The beach is good for at least West through North to East and no Rocky outcrops to worry about. Land sailing holidays are good. One day when I get another Data Logger and Action Cam I will start recording my sailing again. Ron

Shoot! I meant to mention The sail destruction-----------Well not quite destruction but I did tear a couple of panels at the Luff Edge, inside the Luff Pocket. According to my Sail Maker I am pulling too much pressure on it to get maximum speed and when slacking the sheet to pressure isn't coming off the Luff fast enough and allowing the load to come against the Edge and PUNG! Tear!. He seems to think that the Luff should be preloaded when the sail is fully sheeted so when the sheet is released the load will drop off the entire sail at once.. And so the Saga continues Ron

are the panels up at the luff pocket monofilm or some kind of composite. perhaps a strip of some kind of reinforcingto help it stop tearing
