I've been getting MX SUP leggies from the US over the last year ($30 instead of $65-70 here...why we need to pay so much for them I'll never know) but after snapping another one at 3ft Torquay Point today, I've about had it with them. The cord at the ankle is the main culprit, so I'm over cord.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a double-swivel leggie that can handle the force of SUPs with confidence? I don;t like the idea of the new 9'1" meeting the rocks.

I've been break... using different brands and they all break in a given moment.

I think that Creatures's urethane cord is the strongest I've used so far, but the connection between the swivel and the ankle/cuff is too weak. Almost every leash from this brand ends the same way. At least, we can use the cord another time since you can unscrew the swivel.

Right now i'm using dakine and I feel they're strong enough, they're a bit unconfortable on the leg. There is a leash sold by NSI which is really good bang for your bucks, but hard to find. Recently I ordered some starboard leashes for my SUP academy but I'm yet to get them. Any reviews?

Yes but if you go shorter it stops you being towed BB , I've been using Creatures SUP & Outer Reef for a while now

Creatures standard longboard leggies. Also I spoke to a legrope manafacturer recently and they said that using ropes shorter than the sup puts excessive strain on the leggy and should be discouraged.

I had some surfs over Christmas at a well known mal wave just north of Coffs that had me wondering about the consequences of a failed leggie - board on the rocks or even worse with plenty of people sitting down the line a stray board taking someone out. My board has 2 plugs and I was contemplating doubling up the rope that attaches the leggie to the board for some insurance (or even doubling up with a second leggie).

Sounds like we have all had similar expereinces and there is an opportunity for one of the manufacturers to come up with something that could sell well.

Picked my times as best I could to avoid the crowd and the solid swell we had kept the lineup a little less busy. Enough waves going through to surf myself to a standstill on a daily basis. Cutback heaven

Just as I thought - as many opinions as the front bar on a Friday night! I'd have to agree that there's a good opportunity for a manufacturer to make a decent thick leggie with reinforced connections. Sounds like Creatures might be the go for now, thanks.

I'd much rather get carted underwater (having finally figured out how to put the paddle to good use as an anchor underwater, getting the blade into the water underneath the turbulence) than swim and throw with a paddle, watching as your board gets closer to the rocks, unable to bodysurf properly....fr*ckin hate it. Maybe anchor chain is the go after all...

Yep. Creatures,tested at Bluff reef west Tas over the where I copped a flogging.

There is a company in Vic called surfcoast accessories that make super strong leggies that are hand tied for better attachment strength. I have heard nothing but praise for these leggies and I will be buying one when Im more financial. I think they are also cheaper than the "big names"

I just checked an email I got from them and they make a 7.3 standard and a 8.5mm Magnum cord and they are around $50 plus postage.

Almost every holiday in proper waves I break a leash (or 2), and every time its on the swivel.
Because of that I really like the Ocean & Earth One without a swivel :)

An option one of the guys of Dakine wrote me when I requested them about a big wave sup leash is to braid 3 thinner leashes and fix them in a D-ring the kiters use and stitch that heavy duty to one ankle leash (knee was not a good idea, too much risk on tendondamage)

I know exactly where these guys are. I think these guys have broken away from Stonker. Not sure.

8.5mm is more than most others offer. That would be strong....

I was chatting to one of the blokes this morning. I'll investigate further now.
