I am fairly new to SUP. I am 5'10 and 70kg (155lb). I am trying to get a all around board to do light surf and flat water. I am thinking between: 2012 Cabrinha C-Series 10'2 Starboard Drive Starboard Whopper I don't necessary want a beginner board. I want something that is fun and I can grow with it. Any thoughts? Many thanks.

Can't comment on the Cabrinha boards but am currently having heaps of fun on the 10'5 Drive. Great all round board, heaps of fun in the surf & great for cruising. Demo'd a Whopper – also a great board – seriously stable – almost impossible to fall off. If you're at all interested in flat water racing, as much as I'm loving the Drive, it's not really a race board – so much so that I'm tempted to get something new for racing…after only 4 months….

I have been riding a 9'8" C series for about 6 months I am 5'11'' and 93kg and with the right fins this board will surf 1ft-6ft no problem. Ok on the flat water given the right conditions, but like all more surf-oriented boards there's a trade-off At 7o kg a 10'2'' would paddle just fine you could always go smaller maybe. I think JP might have bought Cabrinha SUP got some new boards out soon

The drive is by far the best paddler of the bunch but if your focus is slightly leaning toward surf then you should look at a 9.8 cabrinha. Its not as fast in the flat but a much more stable board than a drive and the best surfing board of your bunch. The 10.2 cabrinha is a good paddler and surfer but way too much board in the surf for your size.
