picked up the new surfmusic 9 x 34 last week. have taken it out 4 times since then. Surfed it as both a quad and a thruster in good (by perth standards) 2-4 foot surf. Will post pictures and full review when i can get my new phone to talk to the computer! First impressions: Super stable. up there with my 9.6 allwave and more stable than the 8.10 starboard wide point. Relatively thin board at around 4 inches, narrow at the tale but very wide up front carrying the width nearly all the way to the nose. Less corky than both the allwaves 9.6 and 9.2 and the starboard 8.10 widepoint. Hated it as a quad, quick but couldnt make the bugger turn. As a thruster it surfs incredibly well. Thinner rails (very thin at the tail) make this the most surfboard like feeling sup ive surfed. Very easy to throw around as a thruster and looser than the allwaves. the main drawback for me is that so far im finding it much harder to catch waves on it than the allwaves. The allwaves will catch a ripple and require heaps less effort to catch waves. The lopez requires a later take off and a lot more effort. Once on a wave though its surfs really well. At 106 kg the lopez is the perfect big boys shortboard. Its much easier than the 8.10 wp in the chop and it appears to be both quicker and looser then the starboard as a thruster. will post some photos as soon as am able to.

Sounds good Sameh. The 34 width scares me a little bit, scared it might be too wide. But I'm sure they know what they are doing.
Also, how tall are you? 106 kegs is heaps of kegs. If you are tall and big framed, like AFL Footy material, 106 kegs might not be too bad. But if 106 kegs places you (or any readers) in the obese zone, you need to focus on salads, vegetables, smaller portions, less sugar (no sugar), less snacks, less beer, etc. Sorry if that sounds brutal! http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/publichealth/healthpromotion/obesity/bmi.asp If "you"* can get yourself into either the top end of "Healthly Weight Range" or Bottom End of "Overweight Range", you will feel heaps better in the water, getting around, and generally feel better about yourself. (If you naturally carry a reasonable volume of muscle, then you can possible give yourself a -1 to -2 on your BMI result. If you give yourself a -3, you are already kidding yourself! ) * "you" means Sameh or any other reader, or anybody... PS - don't waste your time with reds! ... I know the truth can cut deep with some people! If these comments are enough to wake up just 1 or 2 people, I would be happy.

As they say in the classics... Photos or it didn't happen. Can you post some pics of the board? I went looking yesterday, and only found pics of last years model. Which was much narrower (?). Actually, found them on the USA site. Photos anyway please! http://sup.surftech.com/boards/gerry-lopez/ They have squeezed a heap of volume into 9 feet!

Although just a lightweight at 100 kgs, (220lbs. I think that's right) I rode the Lopez 9 foot surf music last week in tiny waves here at Pleasure Point. It was already set up as a quad with the big Lopez Future fins. I have always found those fins to be really stiff. The board floated great and was stable as all get out. I really liked it and would love to surf in with smaller fins or as a thruster set up. Even with the big stiff fins it was easy to throw around and carried speed well between turns. I could tell right away that it would be an easy board to get dialed in.
