Hi All
We have just returned from our holiday in NZ.
We decided to take our 12'6" ULI's with us just to see what it is like to air travel with SUPs.
Apart from making sure we packed the board bag with all the things we thought we needed I made up a fitting with a car tyre valve one end and ULI fitting the other. This I thought would remove the need to take a pump, theory being rock up to a Servo, attach fitting use Servo Air to pump up board.
Easy except when this was tried the Servo compressor ran out of air well before the first board was hard
Lucky plan B was to take a 12 Volt compressor which is what we ended up using.
So with ULIs packed off we went.
First small problem customs in Auckland wanted us to unpack the bags so they could inspect the contents. Some mud on my reef shoes meant they had to be washed but all was good.
The first stop for us was The Bay of Islands beautifully sheltered bay with lots to explore.

JUST PADDLE OUT TO THOSE ROCKS. Great until you turn around and see how far the beach is away

We had a great paddle up a creek to a waterfall 10k return. Never thought we would paddle under a Waterfall.

Russell a very pretty seaside town with secluded bays and beautiful scenery we paddled for hours.

After a great stay we packed up and headed off to our next destination, Rotorua.
We had booked a house which had the lake as its back yard. SUPers HEAVEN!

SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO TAKE IT ALL IN

We had many hours of fun just cruising in unknown waters and taking the ULIs was no big drama. Just an extra two bags to pack but IT MADE OUR TRIP
Hope we didn't bore you too much
Cheers John and Glenys

fantastic way to travel with a sup.

the way some of the brands are getting these 12'6 to a very good level might i be tempted to get one in the future.

might even do ins and outs training on it so i don't have to worry about the clowns i train with

so which one is the best in the 12'6 class

Hi Lacey's Lane
Which 12'6" inflatable is the best I have no idea . When we bought our first ULI they seemed to be the best and we are more than happy with them , my Wiki rail board compares very favourably with our carbon Fanatic 14.
However there are so many inflatable boards available now from nearly every respected manufacturer you would need quite some time to test them all. Does go to show though inflatables have come of age
Cheers
John
