I have just moved to Newcastle and want to join a club that has marathon and downhill racing. I have sent the Newcastle club several emails but have had no replies. Does anyone know a contact. Also what boards are most people using for downwind and distance around newie. Many thanks

Hi mickeyb, Our club website was down for a bit & not sure our info us is working as we didn't get any emails (we'll get that fixed ). We've got our next surf comp this Sat morning at Dixon Park, come on down & meet a few people then. It's 7.30am rego for a 8am 1st heat start. People are mainly riding production 12'6 & 14' boards for Ocean & Distance paddling (from C4, Starboard, Fanatic, Jimmy Lewis, Naish etc)

Thanks for your reply. I will be able to get down in a few weeks. Is there any ocean racing/downwind happening out of the club. When does this happen

Hey, Usually when the wind picks up from the south we go lake Mac and do say Cams to Belmont bout 17km. Or during summer with the NE there's a few good spots to go from. What are you currently riding?

I'm only just starting out. Naish mana 10 for surf. I want a downwind/ race board and am going to try a JM 14. Are the c4's any good. I have a sea kayaking background so hoping the transition won't be to bad
