As compared to the 8 metre forecast for this Saturday. Those crusty old longboarders are going to crap themselves.

I wouldn't stress yet, it is showing long period E/SE swell (tiny) but winds as SW. Usually that will indicate a slight increase for the following day. Long way off still.

Magic seaweed is predicting another monster swell like we have this weekend - 5 meters at 11 seconds. Here in Sydney at the moment it is running at about 6 meters with 30 - 35 knot S/SW winds. A few of us from the SPSC just did the maddest down winder in Pittwater

I guess it's still a long way out but with the current forecast, it would be good to see the surfing on Monday and maybe marathon on Sunday.

Sounds like they need a day and a half to run the surfing - going by the info sheet they sent out. Sun Afternoon looks the best ATM for the marathon.

Don't know how many people are entered in both surfing and marathon but I'd imagine if anything, surf competitors are more likely to race in the BOP technical race. Hopefully they can schedule a Sunday arvo marathon without upsetting anyone's applecart.

Ideally they could run surfing heats until the southerly comes up Sun arvo then run the Marathon. Finish off the surfing on Monday then run the BOP.

Can anyone shed any light on how flexible the schedule is?

Buggar, forecast swell down graded. Looks like tiny conditions Sunday, picking up Monday. All time weekend for skiing/snowboarding though
