Hey all East coast paddlers, the infamous mighty Woogie will be coming to the Kawana lake this Thursday, he will be showing off his eight pack and doing some coaching/training/paddle technique work and just stiring us up. This is free to anyone and all are welcome. We will be kicking off around 4-4:30pm...... Happy days!

Cool, is it BOP format? If so remember meeting point is up the road a bit further past the stadium.

Awesome to see Woogie sharing his wealth of knowledge!! Even better awesome to see he's not in it for the money and its FREE!!! Thats the true spirit of stand up paddling, sharing the love of our sport with others

Stoked Woogie is still doing some teaching stuff and he's got plenty of good stuff to teach!! You say it's free and being free is good for the sport. You make it sound like the guys who are charging for there skill are ripping people of? Guys like jamie who charge $400 for a clinc are still doing it for the good of the sport!! It's just they are now trying to make a living out of what they have learnt over the many years of doing what they do, they have invested many thousands of dollars learning some pretty good stuff so why should they not be allowed to charge for sharing this skill? All my training sessions used to be free but now they cost $20 a week the difference is everyone now has a coach there every session not training himself like when I was doing it but turns up and teaches technique every session and for this I'm happy to pay the money. free is great and everyone loves the word free but sometime by paying something you will get a lot more!! It's great Woogie is doing some free clinics but he has also charged for them in the past and rightly so.

Jacko that sounds like a paranoid response, it's NOT all about you. I understand getting payed and charging for training, I get payed from my local surf club to coach there and I charge them because I offer a professional service, and yes I've been payed also for stand up clinics and of course I think that's warranted when offering a professional clinic especially with the experience of people like Jamie etc. But what I'm saying above is that there's a group of paddlers that get together push each other hard whether for competition or fitness and to have someone like Woogie to come along for nothing and offer his knowledge for nothing is awesome for those guys and the sport. What you have going is different because your offering a coach there every session and why shouldn't he be paid, and $20 a week is great value for a paddler looking for something like that. Stand up paddle boarding is an amazing sport that we all love, and it's still growing with more and more interest so the more knowledge passed on by experienced paddlers the better.

Nah nothing paranoid here just using how we do it as a exsample! Just reading your first post and it seemed that to have the ture sprirt of SUP you had to do it for free!! I was just pointing out that although FREE is great the people who do charge money are not money hungry people and have just as much passion about SUP as the next guy!! I'm super stoked to see people now making some money out of this sport although i'm sure no one is getting rich just yet, just as much as i'm stoked for the sunny coast guys who are getting Woogie to do there free clinic stuff. From the sounds of it if he offered a Free sup clinic with a love in at the end while drinking beer there would be alot of people turn up, well chrispychru would anyway!! By the way most of the time is is about me!!!

Holy mackerel Batman!! I should clear something up, Woogie was going to do it for "free" but the Sunshine Coast SUP club insisted paying him petrol money as he has to drive down from Peregian. If I can throw my two cents in.......I have a funny story. About one hour before the Molokai race last year I said to Woogie " there's no way we can beat all these top paddlers" Woogie just looked at me with those big black eyes and said " if we have FUN we'll smash them" that's the Best "free" advice I've ever had Cheers
