Jacko that sounds like a paranoid response, it's NOT all about you. I understand getting payed and charging for training, I get payed from my local surf club to coach there and I charge them because I offer a professional service, and yes I've been payed also for stand up clinics and of course I think that's warranted when offering a professional clinic especially with the experience of people like Jamie etc. But what I'm saying above is that there's a group of paddlers that get together push each other hard whether for competition or fitness and to have someone like Woogie to come along for nothing and offer his knowledge for nothing is awesome for those guys and the sport.
What you have going is different because your offering a coach there every session and why shouldn't he be paid, and $20 a week is great value for a paddler looking for something like that.
Stand up paddle boarding is an amazing sport that we all love, and it's still growing with more and more interest so the more knowledge passed on by experienced paddlers the better.
Nah nothing paranoid here just using how we do it as a exsample!
Just reading your first post and it seemed that to have the ture sprirt of SUP you had to do it for free!! I was just pointing out that although FREE is great the people who do charge money are not money hungry people and have just as much passion about SUP as the next guy!! I'm super stoked to see people now making some money out of this sport although i'm sure no one is getting rich just yet, just as much as i'm stoked for the sunny coast guys who are getting Woogie to do there free clinic stuff.
From the sounds of it if he offered a Free sup clinic with a love in at the end while drinking beer there would be alot of people turn up, well chrispychru would anyway!!
By the way most of the time is is about me!!!
