I may leave Syd at midday on Thursday and try to have an arvo surf at caves or some place like that, then drive up to Taree and find a bed for the night before getting there on Friday morning.
More than likely I will just leave Syd at 2am and drive straight through. That means I would make Kempsy at around 6 or 7am. Not really sure how long it would take to get to PP from there.
If Cresent looked good I may have the early there and then move on to PP to set up camp and have a late one.
Sounds good. The road is not that flash at the moment from all reports - people would be ok in a 2 wheel beast but just take it easy.
As for Cresecent - its a very popular wave and I would suggest if you want to spend some time there to do it post 9am on a weekday. Weekends are out unless you like bumping rails and pretending you are on the Goldie!!!

or when crescent gets above 4 foot!! thins out considerably!
kempsey to plomer 30mins(15 to crescent 15-20 to plomer 45 mins max if you drive like miss daisy)
road is good till delicate from crescent end but the bumps after make you slow down which ain't a bad idea on the dirt anyway
bring some supplies , the shops at crescent aren't open that early and the closest 24 hour fuel is at kempsey

Thanks for the info PH, those travel times are pretty much what I expected so my only real problem is when to leave home.
As far as a wave in Cresent goes, I've been 4 times and never got wet so one more time won't hurt.
This may be the year I get a wave there.

It's five hrs from Sydney so wd be about the same from the Goldie - we used to do Sydney - Byron in 9hrs - no speeding either
|
|
|
is this old peoples hours or normal peoples?
|
|
|
Definitely at the old speed.
I once did make Hornsby to Coffs in 6 hours, but these days I'd prefer to take it easy and stop for a stretch and a cuppa every now and then.

Sorry fellas but I am a nanny behind the wheel and the chick likes to stop all the time I have actually never had a speeding ticket or any demerit point offence in 20 plus yrs of driving
|
|
|

you'll do sydney (freeway entrance wahroonga ) to kempsey in 4.5 hours without speeding and maybe a quick pie at buladelah .
Had a look this am plenty of sand around on all the points

I'd like to get as much time in the water as possible before this trip, but this is what I had to contend with today.
Coffee and windscreens

I had my chance at the bommy in the morning and I thought, "no, I'll wait till the arvo when I have more time".
Besides that, there were already 9 people out there and hardly enough surf for one.

Both. I shall supply the fire for the late night chats. You can bring some wood
