I see there is a second hand pair of ripcurl booties on e-bay BB going for about 15 bucks at this stage . Size 9 not sure if that is large enough for you . Big week of surf coming up this week in northern Tassie . Forecast for 2 foot easterly swell tomorrow and growing all week to a pretty rough large northwesterly swell towards the end of the week . Should be fun .

TD - Met the weekend manager at red herring in Lonny yesty and he said he was a penguin lad - said he got sick of surfing alone - tough life you northerners have I must say. Btw got a great deal on a pair of peak booties whilst I was there - I dont think they are accustomed to shoppers like me !!!

The school holidays has reminded me how nice it is to surf on my own BB . Haven't surfed at Carlton beach as yet have heard there can be some great surf there some days. You must have had just about the entire Tasmanian SUP population today If there was 5 of you out .

You may be right mate - its a really really good crew here. Definately none of the ego and wank factor that Im used to. They are still giving me shlt about being to polite in the lineup also which is pretty funny. I even got an abusive txt after I got home because I didnt stop in at spencers for a coffee on the way outta carlton (on my final warning already) You will have to get down - good options right along the beach for all boards mate - the rivermouth is insane though, just dont ever call it a creek though - that bought me a coupla stink eyes let me tell you !!

Will be coming that way before too long BB . Used to being in Tasmania now . Used to drive 35 minutes to get to work now 10 minutes is too far . 11/2 hours to Launceston is a day trip . 4 hours to Hobart is too far just for a weekend .in Qld we used to regularly drive 5-6 hours to camp somewhere for a weekend. Give it a few months you will be the same . We have friends here that stay overnight in Launceston because it is too far to drive there and back in one day . Have met locals that have never seen the snow , it snows about 20 kms away And cradle mountain is only a bit over an hour away .

Thanks SP I do have one of those . Not bad value for money cost about 80 bucks on e- bay . Was great about 2 months ago when I used to get about 45 minutes heat out of it . Also gives good lumbar support ( sad I know but true ) . But I have found that now with the water temp around the 14 degree mark once I duck dive and get a cold flush through the suit I can't feel the heat from the gel pack . Saying that it still must be warming my core temp to some degree and keeping me out there . So have been tossing up between the quicksilver and rip curl heated vest . Have decided to go with the rip curl as it has a side entry which has got to give it a longer life . Will let you know how it goes when It arrives . I must be getting old and soft , surfed all last year in just an old 3/2 , booties , vest and hood no problems . This year I am struggling in a new sealed 3/2 , gel pack , vest , booties , gloves and hood . And it is not really that cold here yet . Bring on old age .

Saw these ones in a mag today, they got a good write up, bit expensive though. What type of steamer do you have? http://www.heatedwetsuits.com/thermalution-15m-heated-undersuit/ http://www.thermalution.com.au/wetsuit-series

I did look at those SP and in the reviews they read really well . Supposedly create more heat , longer heat and have a better control system .I am just not so keen on buying gear from Chinese companies compared to the quicksilver / rip curl brands . My steamers I have a bit of a collection . Favourites at the moment are 2 x sealed anchor 3/2 steamers , my old fav is a 3/2 which leaks like the titanic and I am buggered if I can recall the brand of it , I have a 4/3 ONeil which I don't wear much as I can't get out of it . Then I have 2 long sleeved thermal anchor vests , short sleeved rip curl vests . Rip curl F bomb booties , H2O gloves and O Neil hoods . Then I have my short wetsuits and the kids gear . Like I said I have a wardrobe full . Just talking to a bloke surfing in a 5/4/3 And he reckons he loves it . I just hate the extra thickness makes it real hard work paddling .I am hoping the heated vest will keep me in the 3/2 steamers .

Hey TD you must be getting soft - I surfed at Carlton yesty morning early in an unsealed 3/2 and booties and had to roll the top down after an hour cos I was cooking - it was a rather balmy 10 degrees in and out of the water though.

No argument there BB . The wife tells me a teaspoon of concrete is a lot cheaper then a heated vest . Didn't feel so bad though after talking to old mate in his 5/4/3 this afternoon . Nice wave here this afternoon out the front of Penguin hope it holds out for the weekend . See the forecast for your part of Tassie for the weekend is highland snow . Should be a nice fresh breeze out in the water .
