Geez Lacey, how you meant to pick a favourite??

I started thinking about it and i've got no hope, all of the way from Radio Birdman, hoodoo gurus, oils, lime spiders, angels, Cold chisel to the Meanies, Hard Ons, Front End Loader to Living End or countless more recent ones, I got no hope.

Ooooh, I get it from the songs above you meant best gawdy quasi gay song from the early 80's.

Not my favourite somgs but geez I like front end loader....

heaps fun band to see live...would not even remember them until you said it.bad chrispy.

hilltop hoods, nose bleed section, someone please post clipor the "watcha want"clip they just did for jjj like a version

the cruel sea (tex perkins...even though he is a prick as well) are wiked live.

as the whitlams have said...blow up the pokies and we will have another wild beast of a music culture again. well done those who can keep doing it in oz

Mac, my 8 year old son said to me a few months ago "Dad, can we go and see Coldplay?". He listens to my iPod and has taken to some of my music (not Mona by Craig Mcdickhead tho). I wish I had followed it through as they are in my top 5 all time.
Chrispy, my 1st live band was Billy Joel as well at the Ent Cent in march 91 - the uptown girl looked so hot. Saw the Rads twice at Maroubra Seals drinking Op it wasn't pretty.

Did you know it has been proved that it is impossible to keep your head still whilst listening to an ACDC song ?
Ok so I made that bit up bit it's true.

Yeah front end where one of the first bands I ever saw live and many times after that 2 great live band.

As for the hills also great live... As for the clips you can have both...

And a bonus from another great live Aussie band.. Tumbleweed. Saw them at the first show I ever went 2.

And just cause the beer garden board is done... A radio birdman encore.

My first ever live gig was the baby animals at the arts factory in the bay, anyone remember them?

Mix tumbleweed, front end loader, meanies, hard ons, cosmic psychos, super early grinspoon ( were at my Uni) early frenzal and mix it with some American punk and you have my radio show with another guy at Uni called Flatulence.

Im back in 1994 again!

Well pretty much this time next week I'll be watching Temper Trap and Cold Play

i got talked into seeing elvis costello, sunnyboys and a few others early next year. it might be one those 'a day on the green' shindigs for old people

i hope its good. costello will be. but i'm not a fan of seeing bands of my youth because it's usually disappointing. they can't reproduce those times when they were kicking ass and i've aged as much as they have.

it's better to keep the memories intact i reckon.

an exception was died pretty a couple of years ago at bdo

CMC, Baby Animals played at the Hunter Valley(wine country) last Saturday along with Angels, Hoodoo Gurus, Boom Crash Opera, James Reyne. Not a bad line up.
I was up their for a few days but didn't go to the concert. Bimbadgen Estate holds the concert on their estate amongst the vineyards. The following bands will be playing over next few months: Simple Minds, Devo, The Church, Models, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, Jo Jo Zep, Sunnyboys. Top location.

the first band i ever saw was midnight oil at the pit(playroom). they had just released head injuries and well, they were on fire and it was as loud as.
mind you the loudest band i ever saw was the gun club. we had to leave. even two blocks away it was still too much

garrett was dynamic. i still have trouble believing he's a polly

not a bad why to start a love of live music , not that i go to much anymore

another classic band they didn't last long but the guitarist spencer p jones went onto beasts of bourbon and pops up playing for guys like paul kelly
the shows were pretty wild as people were getting pretty loose and the johnnys would invite the crowd onstage for the last song sometimes
i also remember quite a few people getting nude and streaking at the castanet club xmas concert at the newcastle workers (pre earthquake) and they held the record crowd attendance at the time
pleased to admit i was too young for the star hotel which in fact was 79

Laceys ... bit of trivia...At E.Costello 's first Australian concert in Syd 1978 he only played for 40 mins and walked off stage much to the disgust of the crowd. i was there next night and he only played 1h 15m. IMO his music has aged well cause he has experimented/changed styles with class.

Sorry guys I don't get to check the forum often enough and I missed this topic earlier. So many good bands mentioned and so hard to chose but being an old digger I had to go for Redgum and 'I Was Only 19'. Have a listen and pause a minute and think of our boys still serving OS and dreaming of surf back home.
