Haven't used the inserts. I tried tissue paper in the case but it's ineffective at preventing fogging. I found when I used the tissue paper to wipe away the condensation it stays pretty clear for a long time.
i put my case and camera in a fridge for 10 minutes (open case). dry air in the fridge works pretty well. Or hold it over AC vent of your car for few minutes before going out.

Yes works well, I always dry inserts in oven before use. Just get them, before the inserts were released I had mobs of trouble also, all good now and I'm in the troppics.

Had a great result with the anti fog stripes as I was told once before put them in the night before which I do and haven't had it fog up, I keep them in the packet with the desicate, but I put them in a snap lock bag and dry them out in the oven when I get a chance after use. Had a problem before using them.
Had great results with the aircon first and then add a sprinkle of water saver crystals around the back. Much cheeper than the strips and available at any old hardware store
I've found the AC method is the best way. Those strips are pretty expensive?
Spotty the GoPro king gave me this tip if you forgot to pack your strips:
When it fogs just call into the beach and take 5. Crack open the case and let the air equalise, you'll literally see the condensation disappear in about 10sec. Make sure you don't let any droplets in! Even in sandy spots its usually pretty save. Then you're usually good to go. :)

Thanks for that Mux, as you can see the second video is quite fogged. This was sunday before the storm hit, nicely condensed cool air. But one wet gybe was enough to ruin the rest of the footage. I think I'll have to invest in the inserts to keep it easy.
pepe47 that was an hour on the water in the video camera hit the water eight time with the inserts and no fog, in the first video I did it only took one swim after 20 minutes and it statrted to fog up without the anti fogg inserts, so I say they work.
I use the anti-fogs, and they work perfectly every time. No need for AC etc. Nothing worse that finding the lens all fogged up!
Others have said that a bit of chamois has the same effect, or some silica gel... not tried this myself, but if $20 is a stretch, worth a go for free.
Another thing I've found handy is to use rain-ex on the lens before every session - it stops those annoying water droplets hanging around in the middle of the lens, and ruining the view.
I have had very bad problems with my Gopro I had just about given up using mine I got the proper inserts used them & it still fogged ended up having to keep it under the aircon in the car on the way down for a sail then remember to close the case up before turning the air off but now I keep getting water drops on the outside lens which ruins the videos.
Got to say its very hard to get it right I'm not too happy with my Gopro.
we use toothpaste in a similar way to when we dive and scuba.
Same principle, it gets rid of the excess moisture in the air (which is why the airconditioning works)
We use the gel type paste as it has no grit.
Rub it around on the inside of the case lightly then rinse it so the glass is clear.
its a cheap but effective method and makes your videos smell extra minty....
of course, if you keep opening your camera, it wont last as long.
