Outgoing tide in the afternoon so I thought a little south of Kyeem.. Kyeemagh(?) would be good; wind against tide. There is a one way street that goes a few blocks south I've found to be nice if you can get a car park.
Anywhere better?
I was thinking Palm Beach would be the go. Sailed at Dolls the other day lots of kiters and with the tide against the wind very choppy in the middle and when the tide is with the wind you tend to get set down very quick. Anyone sailing around Pittwater this afternoon.
I was going to head up there shortly. Worth a look I suppose. Cant think of anywhere to go out in the ocean and can hear the chopper at North Curly looking for a missing person, dont really want to join him
the missing person (unfortunately) is a body that got washed out of Curly pool yesterday doing 'chain' surfing. Poor bloke. Another 23 y.o. also drowned at Warriewood blowhole
surf was pretty big.
Dibbs, I would head to la perouse or towards Dolls if there was some swell getting in?? or Pittwater near Palmy if you're on the north side.
.
CURLY:
From what I know the guy was with a friend holding the chain, then got washed into the pool then not seen again. So sad, but I guess not all that surprising in those conditions & Sth Curly has a massive sweep as mentioned.
No doubt 'chain' riding off a pool will be reviewed and warning signs considered. Then again rock fisherman drown almost weekly & despite all the deaths and warnings they (mostly) still won't wear lifejackets. What can you do?
I was sadden to hear of those two drownings.but people should relise & respect the Ocean especially in rough conditions.
Botany Bay was fantastic, although very gusty ranging from slowly sinking on an 80l + totally downhauled 5.5 to being practically and actually lifted up off the water and thrown around. Did a couple of those "weak side" airs of a cresting wave to come down nose first. Ouch. Came home and slept soundly. Considering an impact vest.
Parked the next block south of Kyeem.. Kymey... Kymeeg... The airport. Little street.
Nice rigging area with no mini adventure course to get to the water.
Lucky you EvilP. I tried to stay on the North Shore and drove to Palm Beach, lost some time on the Pittwater side trying to find a launch. And all the way to the golf course, where it wasn't good at all, just wrong angle, even a kiter was struggling to leave the beach. Drove back past the lake Narrabeen and quite few complaining as usual in a southerly about shifting and gusting... a waste of a day...
Cool pics! The HSM with the Viking looks cool
We sailed long reef main beach in the late morning and then Makaha in the afternoon. More survival sailing for me trying to hang on to a 4.5
Good one Jon. Let Jerome know they are great photos. He should do more of them. Looks to rough for me but you blokes we're carving it up. Isn't windsurfing a great sport when it blows like it did on Sunday?
Great pics Jon, I was sorry I couldn't come down. Ended up sailing Umina, which was also fun, but not as fast! Dodging onshore waves and chop.
