A fellow windsurfer owns a 1982 Toyota Tarago and it's overheating. From his description, it sounds like his thermostat (coolant system) may be seizing. I am too busy to help him today and he wants to have a crack at replacing it. He asked me where it is. I wouldn't know without looking at the motor. Is anybody familiar with this model ? Any help appreciated J

you'd think it would be in the housing on the motor that the top hose is connected to if not then the bottom hose

Yeah, you would think so... but I recommended that he didn't start randomly unbolting things due to the age of the motor.

Chris, i think its obvious that you already know where the petrol cap is cause it sounds like you have inhaled way to many fumes....

So could he find it - is it fixed - will it continue to run - this could be like days of our lives - keep us posted. If there is a mechanic out there: I have a tapping sound that starts at 1800 revs and dissipates at 3000 - any one know where the noise might come from in a commodore V6. can you fix it over the internet for me!!

J back in 1982 I was a toyota mechanic and remember when they came out, would say at that age it is more likely a blown head gasket or corroded head, when the red coolant turned black with age it eats the gasket, also as the motor is under the seats but the radiater and heaters are right at the front behind the grill there is a lot of water hoses and they would be very perished by now. won't ever go back into the mechanic game bad enough keeping the boys cars going, Tylers subaru I have had to rebuid the motor and replace the auto in the last 6 months.
