Not sure, maybe. I think the NE wind today was the most promising, not sure about the NW tomorrow?

looks like a bit of a WNW later.

I'm going to be at Lauderdale for the Snags, read the saved Ralphs bay thread.

By 1pm will be sitting patiently at Dorans awaiting the wind.

Getting a little desperate

Had a blast, fantastic to blow the cobwebs off the gear and record a 28.5 Knots Max speed on the Naish wave Global 90 and KA 5.8 Koncept. It got a bit choppy to go much faster and deeper off the wind after the long winter. JUMP CITY DORANS IS BACK!!!!

Fantastic start to the new seasion, good to see Easty, Fos, Kaulb, Ken and many more new faces having a blast.

I think I will be a bit sore Monday!!!

Cheers Russ

Nice to meet you Russ and Easty and it was great to get out again today I Took my new GPS out to for the first time, my max speed was only 17.66 (no where near you Russ) but it felt fast haha. I posted my results from today up on the GPS team challenge website; I’m looking forward to improving a LOT on these

soon you will be absolutely flogging 17 knots as you aim for a goal, and you move up the rankings.have you seen when you go to post you can look at a spread sheet (top of page have to download it) witch will show all you sessions its great to look back at to see your self improve.

Great to hear the wind did come in and came in well by the sounds of it. Great photos!!!

Hey Russ, good to hear you had your GPS on. Try posting to the GPS TC site by doing the following:
Take out the Memory Card and stick it in your computer.
Go to the following website (http://www.ka72.com/freeUpload.aspx)
Locate the file from your session today (by date) and upload it to this site.
Use the automatic posting on this site to post to the GPS TC website

It really is as easy as turning on your GPS before sailing and turning it off when you finish. Then uploading that single file to the ka72 website which will post your results into the GPS TC. You should have your results in the system within about two minutes and there is no converting off files, checking data or anything else - it's all completely automatic.

Try this and if you have any issues, give me a call!!

Hopefully on a big board at the moment (JP Funster 160) so will try and get everything right and down pat on that and then buy a smaller board (hopefully this summer), might aim for 20 knots next. Didn’t know about that, just had a look at the spreadsheet function, that’s cooool..

Hey Dave, Russ was using one of those units that go on your wrist, like an oversize watch - I don't think they use a SD card.

Got down to dorans had a bit of a blast then jibed straight onto one of the two steel posts sticking up in the middle of the bay. I'd been sailing pretty close to them most of the time and actually thinking one day some stupid bastard would hit them. Well that's when in a middle of my last jibe this silly bastard actually did and luckily no damage to me just a trashed sail as i cartwheeled over the top. Still we gotta laugh
I'll call the marine safety authority this week to get them removed.

I was actually talking to Dave today about those posts, he said he nearly hit one too. With the sun so low in winter it's hard to see anything when sailing out. I suspect they are there to warn boaties of the sandflat, but they are definately not regulation hazard markers, and are half way down the sandflat. Call M.A.S.T. and see if we can remove them.
Did your board survive outside the hall?

I thought you had a Navi GT11 Russ, sounds like you have a Garmin. You can still upload the track to you computer using the cable and then follow the other steps as the KA72 website should read the Garmin file fine.

I don't know how those poles have stayed there for so long. Bummer about your sail Anthony, be good to see them gone!!

Be good to replace with two flouro marker buoys at either end of the bay to race around. Maybe we can ask MAST whether we can do that at the same time?

Perhaps we could talk to MAST about the steel markers on the lagoon as well, they are a disaster waiting to happen, especially with the crowd we get there in summer.
I dont want to be the one who slides a skewered kiter off one!!

I think those posts at Dorans could be totally taken out, there's no channel there and boats don't go up into there anyway. I kayaked around them last weekend and the one with the cross (well x cross) is just lying in the water next to the little stump now sticking up. It's just waiting for some nice little windsurfer to tread on or wipe out their fin on. Or worse!!!! Might take a walk out there on low tide one day and see if they actually move.

Good call - Let us know how you go, I was thinking this was something the Association should follow up as well, maybe a 2 pronged attack ?

Easty,

Thanks for the photo's kind regards Russ

Dave,

I have been using the fortrex watch gps. I will get the gt11 going soon i like the fortrex because its easy.

Cheers Russ

Anthony,

You were very lucky not to do more damage to yourself. Stay safe mate, are you sure the Walker Corp didn’t place those stakes there??? How ironic you hit the stakes on the day you were celebrating saving Ralphs bay......
