i am and always will be one of those people who will give you a big hoot in the surf.

i love to see the good guys shredding hoot, i love to see groms getting pushed into waves and when i see them go ok or look a bit let down hoot. i love it when i see someone styling hard on their longboard hoot

it used to happen heaps when i grew up. the older guys always yelling and giving us that wiked feeling when we did something cool. yet now it seems more like steely faces rather than smiling ones

Yeeeeeeeeeeeew...

Hooting is good, if somone does something you like give them a quick hoot. It will make you just as happy as it does them...

I think the vibe in the water is nicer around here than when I grew up but still you don't hear a lot of hoots. But everyone seems more chatty than when I was younger, which is a good thing

Some days have a positive vibe about them and everyone seems happy and other days not so. Crowds can have a bit to do with it. A nice looking chick in the water can be nice.
A few years back I had to go up to Mona Vale on Sydney's northern beaches to pick up a board and there was a north east swell on with a southerly blowing so we went up to South Palm Beach to find some really nice clean peaks and there were a few out.
I couldn't believe how nice everyone was out there with people saying hi and even some nice looking chicks out there as well. It was unreal. I was left wondering why and I thought they're probably all rich bastards. Try paddling out at North Narrabeen expecting a nice greeting.[}:)]
There's a thread in itself " nasty places to surf" or ugly locals.

pffff, back in my day if a mate was getting barrelled as we were paddling out, we would look the other way.

if he was silly enough to say- did you see my wave and answer was 'you should have told us you were gonna do something'.

Best way to slip into a line up and rotation for me.

I surf with all lidders often and if you hoot one or two then they start leaving waves and sharing..Which is saying something when often you can have up to 30 plus boogers

But you know what Chrispy, those that don't hoot are only getting half the experience

Yep, it's a Gold Coast thing I think.

I've seen guys get the best barrels of their life and then just kick out like it never even happened.

I don't quite get it myself. I surf way better if I'm happy, happy means sharing it a little, smiling and hooting at others.

That is true . If you've got the sh&ts you might as well go in. I had a guy high five me as I went past him and he was wading out. Never seen him before but I thought it was good.
Sometimes you sledge mates as they are paddling into waves as well. It's the Aussie way.

Nothing like shared stoke - but nothing like a bit of aussie fun with it all too , sometimes gets too bloody serious when it's really supposed to be a good time out in the blue stuff

My biggest board is a 6'6 at the moment soon a 9'4 joins the stable. Hooting rocks. Sharing the stoke. Nothing beats it I reckon. Share the smiles and the joy - nothing better than exiting the water after a good time and starting the next part of yr day. Smiley people make the world go round

Those 666rs are always grumpy.... They don't understand sharing or the enjoyment of others.

Not you Lacey, we know you're a longboarder trapped in a SUPrs body

ASEA on talks to you to distract you as the sets are coming, then he snakes your wave.
