I need to procure a new harness as my current one is basically coming apart at the seams. I've been using a seat harness but am interested in peoples opinions on what they find best to use: seat vs waist.

Comments good or bad....

Also feedback on good brands would be appreciated.

IF U LIKE UR MANHOOD, GO FOR A WAIST.
JUST MAKE SURE IT IS THE RITE FIT FOR U SO IT DOESNT RIDE UP.
I HAVE A DAKINE PYRO. IT DOESNT RIDE UP, BUT THE WEBBING SLIPS SLOWLY SO BY THE END THE SPREADER BAR IS ABOUT AN INCH FROM UR BEER BELLY.
I AM GONNA FIX THAT THO, SORRY KITE DR IS GONNA FIX WHEN I GET AROUND TO IT.
PRO LIMITS LOOK GOOD TOO
SO DO THE NEW FLYING OBJECTS.
THERE ISNT MUCH ELSE TO CHOOSE FROM.
COOD BE A GOOD LINE FOR U SEWERS OUT THERE.....

I had a prolimits seat and that was a good seat. I started using it after breaking my ribs with a naish wasit.

The seat is good, the hook stays low, but using it with boardshorts pretty much hurts. A wetsuit is required.

I'm now switching to a waist again (prolimits). It swivels nicely around the body on twisting/blind moves, but I need to wear it with a rashy/thermalite otherwise it rubs me raw. The hook is higher then with the seat so initially some movements were harder, but I'm used to it now. No rib issues yet either.

My mate learnt with a windsurf shoulder harness. That was quite amusing. Complained about hook rash under his chin...........

I watch the pros on Breaking Wind and even a late to date vids, most you'll see are Dakine waist. So I thought I'ld scope my trustee kiteshop and to my suprise there was not a one anywhere the only consistent story I was told was the rep here sucks and that there was only a small amount of pyros and Tabu distributed for this year(2003) and there was none left in oz. Anyway John Happened to have one in a small size, on which I was ever so thankfull. The last Tabu cool. NOT.... Im 60kg on a good day and I wear this harness tight, but no matter how tight I put it on it seems to ride up or the actual velcro comes undone on 20knts of wind. I hate it, it almost put me off waisty besides the fact that you can reach your board better and that you have more freedom with your legs.
Before this harness I had a wipika seat harness I paid $265 for it but it lasted me 2 summer season and I still have it incase this Tabu lets me down one too many times, I rate this harness it's tough and confortable for my boys down under.

I started with a Dakine surf seat Royale (without cheese) but it's a windsurf harness and it suffered. Then got a nasih waist nobroken ribs but hated it for riding up. Got a pro limit still got it in it's 3rd season but it does still ride up a bit.
New Naish seats are nice Pro limit seats are very robust and Flying objects Hipster is comfortable but seats give you(me) nappy rash which I think on humid days I'd swap for the rib thing but then that's what adam said and he got eve now Thats troublesome....!

I have got the Dakine Wahini kite waist harness (it's the girls one,) and at first found it to be not that great, as it came with a mini bar, and when the bar rode up I ended up with bruises around my ribs. I tried to switch to a larger bar but my ribs really suffered from it. I have now gone back to the mini bar but had a loop stiched around the bar and strap, and it now works like a dream.
I have found I can edge harder and have more movement with a waist harness.

G'Day Airhead,

This one is a no brainer. Go the waist harness made by Flying Objects called the "Flight Control". No need to say anymore, just check it out, bloody nice comfy harny!

I saw what I think is what you are talking about Kitehard, Flying Object waisty looks awsome. Contoured back and a small profile that sits firmly around the waist, great looking harness and a hot looking girl wearing it too.
Pro limit waisty has done what no other company has done to minimise the movement of the spreader bar by having a simple belt loop on either side of the spreader bar which is a plus if you're a waist harness user, but the quick release system seems to still pose a problem to some of the harnesses made.

Guys & Gals, thanx for all of the feedback.

I've gone for a Prolimits waist with a mini bar after trying the Prolimits seat. Like bonster, I figured if most people including the pros are using waisties then they must be all the go!!! Hope it lasts longer than my FO harness

At least the family jewels are going to appreciate it, right?...
