I am hoping to go down south for a few days next week and was wondering if any one could fill me in on the best spots.
I have heard Australind is ok and reakon Geogragh Bay would be good but not sure exactly where to go.

Geographe bay is really only any good in a nth westerly or nthly. The sea breeze(sth west) comes directly offshore. Dont know about bunbury /australind but presume its ok with the coast line running nth/south so you will be able to get the seabreeze.

Hi Jeff,

I've also heard and seen from the layout of Geographe Bay that only NWlies work nicely. Might have to keep this spot in mind for winter. Australind is lovely. I've never kited the actual coast there, most people tend to go on the Estuary. Rig and launch from the BP opposite the big shopping centre. Beware of spikey cobbler, nipping crabs, and sharp sticks in the water, booties are a good idea. I've heard in the past the locals there have had some issues with visiting kiters trampling through the rushes and vegetation lining the banks when launching and landing kites and have had trouble with the rangers. I guess just be aware of that and launch from the small sandy section. Or chat to a local if there are any around when you're there. It's a great spot.

Australind sounds good (apart from all those nasties)
Pitty about geographe bay ,I may have to travel down to Dunsborough or Yallingup but I am not ready to tackle too many waves yet.(prefer flat water)Where were those other spots you found buzz ?

Not all of geo bay is only suitable for a notherly. North of Busselton at forrest beach a westerly is great big empty beaches you can drive along (4wd) and no waves. Also Dunsborough is ridable on an easterly or SE (not sse) by the time you get around there the easterly is cross on. And the trick with australind is to get there when there is wind!! Seems to be a black hole when it comes to wind.

I spent two weeks down their last summer and will be doing the same this summer.

We stayed right on the beach at Dunn bay. Rigged up on the lawn, walked across the road and launched. Early mornings and late arvos seem the go (big kites) there in anywhere from easterlys to south easterlys.

Yells is a good place too, never kited there my self but have watch some guys out. Will be trying it this time.
