Click on the following link and it takes you to what looks like the next noise kite. Only three struts and differernt shape.

http://www.bwsurf.com/shop/kites/products/view/2/17714

Looks like someone stuffed up and pasted the wrong kite into the add. Will be interesting to see how long the website stays like this.

Well spotted, I had a quick look and didn't notice.
I did hear they were working on a 3 strut, super keen for demo when they're released.

Still there. One question though, why is the trade in system only for europe?

BWS website said...

*Once you have purchased the kite from our webstore, BWS will contact you with a photo request for two photo's of your trade in kite. Photo requirements are for the kite to be cut in half from leading edge to trailing edge, through the centre strut. The other a distinct photo of the kite serial number or brand/size reference. Once the photo's have been submitted and approved the sale will process and the New kite will be shipped.... .

That's odd, is this to discourage thieves?
Sounds like they must just recycle or landfill the old kites?

why not donate to a kite school in a place where locals dont have the money to buy a kite, that way the locals get it for free and have someone teach them, anyone whos travelled to os destinations like png, madagascar, dr, sri lanka etc etc will tell you how the locals would love to get their hands on a kite, to cut one up is bollocks unless its a bws

Is this a joke thread? Am I getting baited here?

What is the reasoning behind this? It is a trade in they say? And yet you cut it in two?

I'm sure there is a reason behind this process, but I can't fathom why?

Does anyone whose more informed know why this seemingly bizarre process is in place?

Have I just took the bait?

I dont reckon they actually want your old kite ...........

If you ( not you but generically) are stupid enogh to cut up a perfectly old but functional kite before you get your new one ?? then as said above WTF.

The way I read the offer is - if you are prepared to buy a BWS and PROVE you had an old kite to trash then BWS will honour the discount ( but you need to show you had an old kite and have trashed it?) - have i got this wrong??

Its kind of like the Harvey Norman et al deals where they say if you are prepared to trash your old fridge they will discount the one you buy ?? I dont quite follow the logic but apparently the marketing boffins have it all worked out - may be its a IQ thing??

Either way - had the chance to see some BWS kites in action at Merimbula over the last couple of weeks while on Holidays - I'm interested!!

Dont know for sure but maybe its just Europes turn.
Ozzies had this deal running for months over Xmas & beyond.
Dont know about others but at KSS we are currently running thru the pile of trade-ins looking for anything that can be used by the kids in PNG.
Only 'safe' kites will get to go of course & yes others will wrecked for parts for our charity raising "kite wreckers yard'. Yes others will be trashed. Better off trashed than on Gumtree for some unwitting beginner to his/her hands on.

BTW @ KSS we have a minimum trade-in running on a whole swag of superseded & even current model kites up for grabs during this autumn lull. Great time to be trading up.

The kite i had was a North Rhino 14m so i did not want to hand it over a newbie or any one else after i trashed it.
i even rang BWS to try and get a time for the courier for pick up the trade in but to no response.

I had an e-mail from BWS with the offer - It is for Aus, Europe and UK. Looks like there is a new model coming.

its way to under cut your retailers without getting in trouble.

Righto....so they use your old kite as a proxy 'trade in', reducing the actual price of the new BWS kite (under cutting retailers price structures).

If that's the case this process is weirder than I first thought and to me detrimental to the brands name and exposure.

For one even if I wanted a BWS kite (which I don't!), i wouldn't buy one if that was the case above. If it is condoned by BWS that is...

Weird as coloured cow sh1t man.

Doesn't matter how you cook sausages. Curry them, fry them, BBQ them.... They are still sausages...

This is applicable to BWS kites I'm sorry to say.

Anyone in WA can be sure their trade-in will be disposed of with full ceremonial honors at KSS.
Collecting quite a batch of freebies - all checked, repaired where needed etc etc to be passed on free to good needy homes.
Others respectfully stripped of any usable bits & pieces for the 'KSS charity shop wrecking yard'.
Dont cut em up - bring em in & do the deal locally.

Good on ya phil but I still maintain the approach taken as a whole is just downright bloody weird.
