I have a couple fins which could do with some TLC, but I am not sure the best way to repair the dings and scratches mainly around the bottom and leading edge without changing the fin forever.
I am sure I read a post on this a couple of years ago but I'll be damned if I can find it again.
How do the fin experts on this forum do it?
Note anything that requires more than 10 minutes sanding is out because that is about my attention span when sanding, and that means I will be sanding an anchor.

use blade putty and scrape it off with a Stanley blade , if you use sandpaper you will sand either side of the the repair

Hey Geoff,
car spray filler for the scratches then wet and dry sandpaper. Epiccraft white filler for the dings.

Thanks guys. Both sound like my type of repair, labour unintensive.
One last question before I attack, how should I clean the fin before I start. Epoxy thinners, acetone or just good old soap and water? One is a Deboichet (read orange paint or what ever) and the others carbon.
Cheers

Super glue gel for dings in fins. You can put bicarb on it to make it go off fast or get some accelerator from a hobby store. Sets up in seconds and as hard as the fin. You can get on with the fairing straight away. You can fix small chips in your boards this way too.

It's frosty to clear depending on how much you sand it - would make a fair match for G10 I think.

I have a wonderful fin unfortunately dumb me I pounded it into the fin box with a hard object to make it snug but took off a 1.5cm chunk off it at the trailing edge..Do I have to leave it at that or does it cause hydro problems. Am thinking of just epoxy glue and sand it down but never had the mindset to do it yet

Also for the second query another fin has a broken edge off the trailing edge about .5cm wide and deep how does one fill that up? it's too thin!
