I won't name the spot, but the beach is CLEARLY marked where beginners should kite and where advanced riders should kite. It does not mean "Advanced riders are allowed to cut through the beginner zone and expect respect!".

A beginner zone is there for beginners ONLY, not advanced kooks that think they own the beach! And you know I am talking about you -- yeah you know who you are.

If you MUST kite through, please give at least 20 mtr space and go upwind, not cut down wind. Cause if noobs dive their kite at the time you're kiting through downwind, you will be very disappointed and expect DISRESPECT!

<breath man> <breath>

Ok. Said it.

Kazan,

whilst I'm not as worked up as you on the subject, I hear you loud and clear. I wouldn't consider myself a noobie anymore, nor would I call my self an intermediate

I remember well the 'stress' of trying to get out into the water in the newbie spots only to have a an experienced rider charging towards me back to the beach, almost waiting for our kites to touch, only to change direction and head back out to sea again. I never understood the appeal of doing this. Maybe I will one day....

You suffer a lot of tension when you're a noob and just up and riding. Most guys will spot you and turn in good time but the odd one wont give up their line for no one. I recall watching people who were hundreds of meters away from my kiting disaster zone thinking, "**** off! For farks sake!".. Then after a while your passing through the middle of two kites less than 10 meters apart going the other way and not thinking a thing about it.

+100 on this. As a newbie, you have alarm bells going off.... same with skiing, when I heard someone appraoching from behind it was a real stress, lose concentration and stack.

I was lucky enough to learn at an empty beach with loads of room. I don't think I could have handled the crowds at that stage... still hate it!

Tsk, you're weak ;-)

Although it gets a bad rep, I am glad I learnt at a beach renowned for being overly busy... almost hostile towards learners... means that I generally don't get phased when I go elsewhere. That said, it probably stunted my learning initially as I spent much time avoiding and worrying about others rather than concentrating.

We have one of these asshole on our spot, he always puts beginner in bad situation where he can yell at them for not respecting priorities... a beginner will always have the priority since he is not yet able to control the kite perfectly. Couple of years ago when i started he played his little game on me and i charged on him and started yelling at him. He left me alone and found another victim. He still kites and he still plays his little power trip. The guy is such a loser. One of these days he will get a severe beating on the beach. I cant wait....

I do the same thing when going to the shops, get out of the car with a bike helmet on, people don't say anything about you parking in cripple people parking without a sticker, walk through the super market pushing a trolley with a bike helmet on, no one says nothing about you pushing in line at the express checkout with an overloaded trolley...

bike helmet shopping, try it out sometime..
