have the same laird, love it had it for 18 months now, its a keeper.

have been riding a starboard 8.10wide body for 6 months, great board for beach breaks and points as well, only tried the 8.2 wide body in flat water.
as im 6 foot and 87 kgs thought the 8.10 suited me better.
going to demo the 8.8 jp surf next week to see if its any better than the starby.

Hi sandy have tried the 8'2 wide point carbon and the 8'2 WB. Now own the WB great board beach and point, surfs unreal and can handle the drop. You still need to get used to riding this kind of SUP but once you get that, great board. Stability won't be as good as the 10 footer as you would expect. Recommend you go for it I'm 6' 85 kg after a night out. Good luck

I had the 8 10 wp, great easy board with short board feel. Changed to the 8.2 sb carbon wp no problem with stabiliy, whole lot better again. great board for the heavier rider, im 95kg,. Im sure the jp would be just as good, have not ridden it.

At your weight (77kg) you will easily be able to go to the SB 8'2 WP. The SB 8'10 is a super fun, easy and very stable board even in the really sloppy onshore surf and might be more board than you need to ride. The 8'2 WP might be the better choice...

I'm 96 to 98 kg - 6ft 4 tall and surfed the SB 8-2 wide point carbon for last 6 months and find it really stable and super fun in surf up to double over head - a great tip I found when surfing Rotto at double over head at Easter was the 4 quad fins can be slid back in boxes about 10mm and make the board really much more stable and super drivey in larger surf. It really is 2 boards in 1. Move the fins all the way forward - my standard set up and board is very fast on rail and super carvey in pocket up to 1 1/2 head high. With all shorter sups you have to expect to fall off more often and you gotta be more energized in take off area to keep balanced on board in onshore rough conditions. I'm a massive fan of this board.

Also on rocker I have ridden this board many times at Scabrough beach Perth & Rotto in head to head 1/2 in pitching close out waves and find the rocker perfect with no problems

I am yet to hear a bad thing about the JP's, I think I am getting close to making a decision, it is coming down to 8'8 vs 8'2 I think.
