Can anyone give me a bit of advice on the best spots to kite up this way or if there are any restrictions?

Going up there for 10 days at the end of the week and hoping that I'll be able to get some kiting in!

I kited at Coral Bay last year in July. It was awesome, bout 27 degrees and 15-20kn SSW seabreeze 7 out of 10 days much like our summer. I kited the lagoon a few hundred metres north of the caravan park which I have since come to learn is AKA the shark sanctuary. Apparently at certain times of the year sharks bring the babies in here to teach em to feed but when I was there there were none at all The lagoon is about the size of a football oval and about 1ft deep but at low tide it pretty much doesnt exist. You can go outside the lagoon and the depth drops off to a few metres and is still kinda flat. There is a long curving beach downwind all the way to Pt Maud, another good spot just harder to get to (long walk or 4WD).

Good Luck!
Let us know how ya go!

Kited in Exmouth late August. Winds were easterly and about 15-20kn early in the morning. Did a down wind run from exmouth marina to the navy pier (about 15km)it was pretty cruisy. Saw heaps of marine life inc. turtles, sea snakes and dolphins. It's really shallow most of the way, sand and coral with a some fun little waves to hit.

Yeah also kited @ Coral Bay but just to the South of the main beach half way to Paradise Beach. There's a bit of sandy bottom but then its shallow coral and I wouldn't recommend it in hindsight as there is also a bit of boat traffic, snorklers etc. The bay South of Monck's Head looks the goods with all sand bottom out to the reef but it's 4WD access only. I've heard of guys kiting down that way and actually riding the waves on the South passage through the reef. Don't do it alone though

Thanks guys can't wait!

I've got a 4WD so maybe I'll go and explore some of the places you mentioned.

Will report back on my return, if i'm not eaten by sharks!

I kited at a few places around Exmouth last Easter, had good wind most days. I kited at cape range at the Lakeside camping ground, there's a nice small bay there, at Grave Yards, there's bit of a bombie a few hundred metres out and town beach, which is nice and safe if on your own and ok in a NE wind. Enjoy
