Hi every one just want to know if there is any insurance for our kites ? I have been reading about all the little THIEVES (that all need a good smack around the ears) that have no respect for any thing or any one. I have rung my insurance company SGIO and thay say any sporting goods not made of fabric can be covered, and kites as we know are made of fabric !!!!!!!!!!!

What a load of bollocks ... not u wasssup ... the info from sgio !!!!
Any insurance company that is mainstream on 'house and contents' can offer you an extension of your 'home contents' insurance to cover personal goods off site. Its extra of course but its cheap. You simply itemise & value (very important to value ea. item) a list of goods that you remove from your house - cameras, watches, mobiles, tools, KITES, BOARDS etc., whatever - then they can be covered against fire & theft - usually as long as they are taken from a 'locked vehicle'.
If sgio dont do it ?? (but i reckon they would) find one that does.
If you dont do 'home & contents' some co's do similar as an extra to your car insurance (RAC I think ?).
If you deal direct & find it a problem phone a good broker

? 4 strings ?

GIO does my Home and Contents insurance and have also covered my Windsurfing kit (For an extra cost). But now it's covered in nearly every situation bar competition. You might want to check that out.

I went through the same exercise with SGIO and got a quote to insure 4 kites and 3 boards as specific items... It increased my premium by over $1000 per year... And then if you read the fine print they say that they do not insure windsurfers, surfboards, or airial devices. In the end I left in frustration becuase one it was too expensive and two they couldn't answer whether or not the kites and boards are covered at all... Even when locked up in the garage at home!!

If anyone has made a successful claim on kiting gear with an insurance company I for one would like to know which company... so that I can change over... I don't like all this uncertainty
