All my mates from up there keep telling me all around the start of this month the wind was hooting. A few people do it there and it would be good in most wind directions, even offshore at Town Beach. I'm hoping to get up there again myself soon, but haven't worked out when. May wait until the wet when there's a few cyclones around to throw off some wind. Be dodgy though. Don't know if I can make it any sooner.

There's a good crew that kite regularly all year round in Broome - see info at http://www.broomecam.com/event/kitesurfing.htm

and check out the Cable Beach webcam www.broomecam.com/camera.htm

Town Beach and "The Creek" in an Easterly in the mornings at this time of year are great. Seabreezes on Cable Beach are unlikely until closer to the wet season (Nov onwards).

Cheers for that Ian, I wasn't a kiteboarder when I lived there so I never took much notice of the wind. Except when I was trying to lie on Cable Beach with my girlfriend one day and the blowing sand was stinging us...

From memory that was about this time last year.

I shall be there in November then!

Hey Ian - i wish we had something like that at peli point so we could see whats going on... the beach cam is awesome.

being a newbie, i sorta take the stance - if no one else is out on the water, there is usually a reason for it.

The one thing i did notice predominantly was that there was no kites or windsurfers in any of snapshots that are available for viewing.

That webcam is situated on top of the Sand Bar and Grill and looks out over the tiniest section of beach between the patrolled beach and the nudie beach. There's about 40 other kilometres of top notch kiting beaches around the town and I've never seen more than 3 kiters out at once in my 8 months living there last year. And they weren't anywhere near the webcam. Maybe if you watched the webcam for a whole year you might see a kiteboarder once or twice? Check out the movies on the kitesurfing page, they were definately shot in Broome. Struth that's a nice town. Am looking forward to going back for a visit.
