Lucky for those of us that enjoy wave riding @ Gnaraloo it is a long way to go for most and is pretty extreme so it's unlikely to become much more crowded than it has been for the last few years ... unless of course the "Save Ningaloo" people keep publicising in the mass media, demand continues to grow for places like Coral Bay and CALM open the coast road from Carnarvon all the way through to Ningaloo! But then again maybe people will spread out more along that amazing piece of coastline? At the end of the day Gnaraloo will always be for advanced riders only and that in itself will be a limiting factor.
As far as "secret spots" are concerned - ask yourself how did you find out about it? Someone told you about it eh! If you really want a secret spot then go and discover a new one. There's a place just North of Point Cloates on Ningaloo station called Fraser Island - if you look at the contintental shelf drop-off it looks amazing - if anyone gets the chance to explore it before I do please let me know it it goes off and send me some pix :-)
I spent my whole life travelling around the world and it amazes me the number of people that are aggressively territorial - in many cases they have not even earned the right to be called "locals". People need to learn to be tolerant and to share - follow the local and universal rules - get in the line up, don't hog the waves and enjoy the experience together. Nobody "owns" any spot or even any particular wave - that doesn't mean you go dropping in though - be considerate of others!
We are spoiled in WA with thousands of kilometers of fantastic coastline - aggressive bull**** just spoils it for everyone - besides it's way more fun to have a beer afterwards with some new friends that share the passion :-)
Don't forget to be "CLEAR" about it
