Nice pix, good to be able to see them at all.
Have been missing Gnaraloo since I started kiting, got to say though, the wave size is more like mullaloo on a good day, thats flat water sailing for Toombstones

Size is good , but length is what it is about .
When you are doing up to a dozen bottom turns on ONE wave , you understand the term "Jelly legs"

Believe me there was one day that would of made your hair stand on end
- the majority would of absoluteley S@#$%t themselves - I know cause I was one of em S@#$%ting!!!

when you can look back down the line and See Midges start to break at solid 2 x over head as you approach the zone - then centres starts to throw just as your starting to get into the tombstone zone believe me that is one frightening site at this size as you negotiate your way through ledges and double - triple sucks and face the thickest and longest and fastest wall you are likeley see.

There is a shot of Mike fearlesly slaying one of these beasts in a very scary section of the wave, you arelikeley see it in time
- Respect

well done, some nice photos to inflate someones ego, how to f*** a great sailing spot up, its hard enough as it is with the windsurfers, and surfers who were there first without encouraging hundreds of kook kite sailors who look at those shots of a small day and think they can ride it. When we get banned from this private spot remember what you've done.

Cassidy try a google image search on gnaraloo

you may be quite suprised about 90% of the list are shots of windsurfing

then try a straight search wow this is a seriously secret spot - no less than 1340 hits.

Unfortunately Cassidy those days are gone infact they were gone Ten

years ago - get over it

Lucky for those of us that enjoy wave riding @ Gnaraloo it is a long way to go for most and is pretty extreme so it's unlikely to become much more crowded than it has been for the last few years ... unless of course the "Save Ningaloo" people keep publicising in the mass media, demand continues to grow for places like Coral Bay and CALM open the coast road from Carnarvon all the way through to Ningaloo! But then again maybe people will spread out more along that amazing piece of coastline? At the end of the day Gnaraloo will always be for advanced riders only and that in itself will be a limiting factor.

As far as "secret spots" are concerned - ask yourself how did you find out about it? Someone told you about it eh! If you really want a secret spot then go and discover a new one. There's a place just North of Point Cloates on Ningaloo station called Fraser Island - if you look at the contintental shelf drop-off it looks amazing - if anyone gets the chance to explore it before I do please let me know it it goes off and send me some pix :-)

I spent my whole life travelling around the world and it amazes me the number of people that are aggressively territorial - in many cases they have not even earned the right to be called "locals". People need to learn to be tolerant and to share - follow the local and universal rules - get in the line up, don't hog the waves and enjoy the experience together. Nobody "owns" any spot or even any particular wave - that doesn't mean you go dropping in though - be considerate of others!

We are spoiled in WA with thousands of kilometers of fantastic coastline - aggressive bull**** just spoils it for everyone - besides it's way more fun to have a beer afterwards with some new friends that share the passion :-)

Don't forget to be "CLEAR" about it www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2068

You missed my point or maybe I was not clear about it, Gnarloo is no secret spot, but that in itself is no reason to plug it, we as kiters use a lot of room on the water compared to other users,it would not take much to crowd gnarloo out, one inexperianced sailor one accident too many and what is the response going to be from the landowner, show your photos enjoy your sailing but think about it. Some of us up the coast spend a hell of a lot of time negotiating with councils and landowners to keep beaches open for all to enjoy, and would be gutted to lose them.
