Looking for feedback on your experience in renting out your place.
We are going away for all of November, and I was thinking of renting it out as a holiday rental for that four week period.
Is it worth the hassle (Clearing out the house), Damage and lastly the income you get? On the flip side, I would probably feel my house is safer with someone in it... been continuous burglaries in Scarbs.
Details: 3x2 (although we may use the one room to store all personal stuff) and < 300m to Scarb's Brighton beach launch spot; with ocean views of the kiters...
The location was making me think that an overseas/interstate kiter pair or family may be interested...
only so so thinking about it... What advice if one was to do this? Reference checks etc?
...is it worth it?

Hardly worth it to rent the place out.
What is better is to get a house sitter in. Ideally someone you know and trust.
Dan Anderson apparently does a bit of house sitting, give him a call (via SOS) i think he gets evicted from his current place round end of Oct.

We rent out a holiday house in Yanchep all year round,we get mostly weekends exept for school holidays when its always booked out.
Never had any one trash the place, we take a bond and somtimes you need that to cover stuff that breaks, be prepared for intensive usage though, people want to have a good time in a holiday home so alcohol consumption is high eg wine spillage , chocolate stains in carpet, I wouldnt do it if the place was newly renoveted , thats for shure. We keep tools and personal things in a locked shed, you would have to clear out your home.
There are some good websites around where you can post you home , they will then take a %
