Hi everyone i burst 2 off my bladders(leading edge an a strut) and had them repared, but when i put them back in they got twisted and i've tried but cant get them to fit in snug , does anybody no any tricks to solve this problem thanks
1. Remove Bladder carefully by tying a loose knot in the tip of the bladder and tying a larks head knot (the way you attach your lines to the pigtails on your kite) over the bladder end. 2. lay your kite out so that you can get your kite as flat as possible. Make sure you let all of the air out of the struts to make this easier. Ensure that the stitching is as flat as possible. Remove bladder from kite. 3. Put stoppers in your valves 4. Put bladder into bag and cover the bladder as best as possible with talcum. 5. Consatena the bladder. That is, fold it back and forth over itself perfectly so that the seams are all in line. Remove bladder plugs. 6.Pour talcum powder (about five table spoons) into the zip area for really good slide effect. 7. Have someone carefully pull the bladder through ZIP SIDE FIRST, as you feed the bladder through. Make sure the bladder runs through seam to seam with the seams on the leading edge. Same for other side. 8.Leave the tips unsecured (don't fold and tuck back in) Pull valves through holes...at this point you will know if it's straight or not. 9.Pump kite up half way or (until you notice a twist) 10 No twists should be present if you followed the above steps. 11. Twists present - start again and be more careful. 12. Failing that, bring it to Geraldton and I'll do it for you in 10min.
Take the bladders out again . Make sure kite and bladders are completely dry . Stick the bladders in a garbage bag and throw some talcum powder in with it . Shake it up so the bladder is covered completely in Talc . When you put the bladder back lay it out flat then tape a flat piece of wood (about 10cm wide x50cm long) to the end of the bladder then tape your string to the end of that . This will help prevent the bladder from twisting whilst you pull it through . It is a lot easier if you can do it in an area where you can lay everything out full length . Good luck .
Hey Gavin , you are doing the same as I am , sitting on the comp because you can't go kiting . Must have been typing the reply at the same time . Sorry to hear about your hand , hope you have better luck with the docs in Perth . c ya in Geraldton on Friday .
Yes, I am actually setting all my relief lessons for while I'm away down there in Perth. Windy up here.... Got your thoughts on the PBS judging, will be using that same system. Scary how we think alike. I like the plank bit at the end of the wing tip, will try that next time. Gavin
