hey Geeza,
Australind is my local spot and can be great if the wind blows, it's not as windy as further north say Mandurah even. But it is shallow for about 400m off shore then drops off to over head high.. At low tide you can find yourself walking out a fair distance just looking for water.
To get there turn off the highway at Paris rd and turn right (north) when you get to the eastuary about 300m up on the left is a large lawn area we set up on.
Main hazard is launcing near the trees, they do some funky stuff to the kite and I've seen many kiters end up too close to the road as a result and kite on and across the road. Beginers and those a bit wary usually are encouraged to lanch from the sand bar about 50m offshore.(unless it's high tide) There are also the crabs so if you plan on walking lots bring booties or band-aids!! And some stingy thing that hurts like H##L but we don't know what it is.
And camping? There are a few caravan parks near by or there are camping grounds on the other side of the eastuary about a 20min drive away I guess.

Main thing for us locals is the same as most places now, we want to keep it open so respect the gen public when launching and landing no lines acrosss the path etc. and have fun!

KK,
The stingy thing is most probably a Devilfish.
There's Cobbler too but step on that sucker and it's curtains for that day's sailing. Ouch!

Hey wave slave what do these little devils look like? We thought it may be some sort of weed.. it's only in the summer months and is like a bee sting that comes on slowly after stepping on it (you don't even feel it when you first step on it). Stingoze helps and Hot water does too. Sometimes there is the faintest sign of a puncture wound but mostly just goes white and swells a bit.

Can definately turn a bad day worse if the wind drops out you and you have to walk back

KK,
Devilfish are quite small with spines and they bury themselves in the sand, difficult to see.

Australind is a sik little area to kite, u can travel for what seems ages, although if you have to trek in the water watch out for the crabs as they kinda like the kiter's foot
