Has anyone kited at Avoca Beach on the NSW Central Coast. Got a workshop there and wondering if there might be a chance to kite.

Thanks.

Hi Victor

I had a beachfront home there, opposite the Bottleshop, as a weekender when i grew up in Sydney. There is a small lagoon there, which if the outlet and sand movements haven't been too bad, offer a small safe beginner area...

On the surf beach, i would recommend just up from the surf Patrol Tower, this is in the middle of the beach and has heaps of flat sand area around it...about 400m of clear sand..no trees...

You will need a N.Easter as the Northerly doesn't get in there...a little gusty...but huge surf when it's running...so if your competant you can enjoy the surf...The surf Club is 2km downwind so happy to help if you end up in the flags!

Enjoy but make sure someone is on watch looking out for you...you don't want to disappear downwind round the headland...!

Rgds

Thanks Warren.

Is there anywhere else near Avoca that you could recommend?

Check out Tuggerah Lakes or the Entrance.

Erina Sail and ski operate their Kiteschool there and Mark Peterson also teaches up there, so it does work and is good for kiting....

Both offer good lessons if you are after a lesson. Contact rod at Erina -he is a cool kiter...just saw him yesterday at Winda Woppa - he was bummed when i told him i was up here for 2 weeks...he was going back to Erina to work!

Have fun

Warren
