Thank You Arjay,We are aware of that, Tides -accom availabilty-offpeak airfares, are a big factor in our date choice, plus not all karters can afford to fly to the other side of the world,we wish the karters going to Belgium all the best with their trip, and welcome the leftovers to our lovely part of the world.

Notice of Race

2010 CQBC REGATTA CAPE HILLSBOROUGH

Friday15th- Sunday 17th October 2010

Race Instructions

1 Welcome

On behalf of the Central Queensland Blokart Club we would like to welcome all
competitors and their families to the 2010 CQBC Regatta.

Friday will be a practice day, with briefing and racing Saturday to start from 8.00am
and briefing and racing Sunday to start from 8.30am. A trophy presentation will be
held soon after the event is completed.

2 Race Director

The Race Director for this event will be Darren Bianchi.

3 Rules

These Championships will be raced under the IBRA set of rules.

4 Protests and Penalties

Protests must be lodged with a $20 non-refundable fee. Keep in mind this is a fun
event and protests should not be necessary. If the infringement is not in your
race/class it does not concern you.
In order not to interfere with the prize giving on the last race day, if you intend to
lodge a protest after the last race, please make it known to the Race Director as
soon as possible. Protests will be heard as soon as possible and must be lodged with the race director within 10 minutes of the completion of the race involved.

5 Classes

Notional classes are: -

Lightweight Production up to 65kg.
Middleweight Production 65kg -80kg
Heavyweight Production 80kg -95kg
Superheavyweight Production 95kg +

Lightweight Performance up to 65kg
Middleweight Performance 65kg -80kg
Heavyweight Performance 80kg -95kg
Superheavyweight Performance 95kg +

The race committee reserves the right to adjust the class weight categories based
on the actual number of entrants.
The race committee reserves the right to run multiple classes in the one physical
race, even though they may be scored separately.
All classes must have at least four pilots/entries or the class will be dissolved and
pilots will be placed into the closest class available.
No class adjustments will be made to account for competitors considering sharing a
blokart. Be aware that the adjustments of the classes could see competitors
intending to share a blokart having to compete in the same physical race.

6 Points

A low score points system will be used for this series.
Point allocation will be: -
1st = 1
2nd = 2
3rd = 3
4th = 4… and so on

A did not finish (DNF) will attract a points total of the number of starters plus 1
A non starter (DNS) will attract a points total of number of starters plus 2
A disqualification will attract a points total of number of entries plus 3.
In the case of a tie a count back will be used to determine the winner.

As many races as considered possible by the Race Director will be run based on the
time available.
If eight to eleven races are completed, the highest race score for each competitor
will be dropped. If twelve or more races are completed, the highest two race scores
for each competitor will be dropped. For every additional four races completed,
(after 12) one more highest race score will be dropped.

Disqualification and Did Not Start (DNS) scores cannot be dropped.

The class winner will be awarded to the sailor who, at the end of the event has the
lowest number of points.

7 Start Line/Starting

The start line will be a starting grid between orange cones.
All starts will be rolling starts.

A horn will be sounded for a two minute warning, another horn will sound at the
one minute warning with the starting horn sounding a minute later.

A pilot crossing the start line before the starting horn must round the penalty mark
before returning to the start line, without interfering with other competitors.
No 360 turns to be done or brakes to be used in the starting zone.

8 Finish Line

The finish line will be the same as the start line. Pilots must cross the finish line in
the same direction as they started to be classified as finished.

To assist the race director/scorers pilots when finished should make their way to thepre-start area to allow the track to be cleared as soon as the race is completed or as directed by the Race Director/ Starter.

9 Courses

Courses will be set dependant on wind conditions.

The race format will be determined on the day by the Race Director based on the
wind and tide conditions at the time.

Today (Sunday 3rd Oct) Saw 17 Karts on beach at Cape Hillsborough 9.30am to 4.30pm. Mixture of 4 and 3 mtr sails used with lots of two wheel action. The saying "we are happy little vegemites: would be a understatement for the day, This was a great training build up to the regatta Oct 16th-17th this month. the beach sailed perfect all day, with some real close manouvers between all competiters. bring on the same or better conditions for the Regatta 2010.

Last chance for a sleep tonight before the fun begins at Cape Hillsborough.

Early entries are similar to last year's event, with several late entries that should know better than to turn up and race, letting us know today they will be competing.
In future late entries will be looked at differently as we need to order transponders and food and we do not wish to run out or over cater for either.
Luckily we prepared for them but it would make life a bit easier for the organisers if we get entry details earlier-please!

The media challenge and practice runs will start Friday and racing will continue on Saturday and Sunday.

Let the race begin.

We are home and happily exhausted.

Friday had gusty winds with 3m being the sail of choice to practice with.
Saturday dawned and up at the cabins, the wind was bellowing through, with some wishing for 2m sails.

After the walk down to the beach we were sadly disappointed as the direction was not good with the trees blocking the wind and sailing eventually run with 5.5m sails and a course along the water line making for some action.

Sunday morning, after Saturday night's dinner, produced a welcome wind change, with most of us running 4m's and some of the lights using 3m's.

The beach was hard and suffered little from all the passes, with wind shifts ruling the course taken.

We ended up with a bigger turn out of competitors than last year's event, despite the Victorian Titles taking up the six Victorian competitors that showed last year.
We still had one Mexican and a cockroach with a kart, looking for a good fun event, show up and with new members and visitors capably filling the gaps, we hosted another successful outing.

Last count, we ended up with around 58 competitors, who ended up presenting a great show to the spectators and media contingent.

Channel 7 and 9 both had cameras on site (footage should be on Monday or Tuesday nights news so set your recorders), with Southern Cross Media, Zinc FM and ABC radio doing interviews for their local shows.

With this event done, stay tuned for the release date for next year's Regatta, it's going to be bigger and better!

Thanks to all those who participated and volunteered their help.

This is what makes our club and events successful.

A HUGE thank you to everyone that made us feel so welcome and thanks to the committee and other helpers for running such a fantastic event. Saturday had the most perfect weather and stunning scenery that the odd thought crossed my mind that for once I didnt mind if we were not blokarting as having so much fun just chatting to everyone and relaxing on the beach.

Dinner on Saturday night was amazing and blokarting on Sunday was really fun. Book us in for next year and will make sure we pencil in a few extra days.

Thanks for the support.
You guys were a pleasure to be with.
Bring more of the same people with you next time and we will be sure to have a great time and help the event and the sport grow.
Have a chat to Brendon M and see how good the extra day up here was.
We went out to Bucasia Monday morning three and a half hours before low tide and left before it turned so he could make his flight.
Check out the photos soon on the CQBC forum.
Next event is already being planned and the date will be released soon so we can all plan ahead.
