Birdie,
There will still be a few days of wind left. If you look at the north west chart Exmouth is still getting a decent seabreeze. I was in the same boat this time last year and ended up going to Cocos Island in August which is a great place to learn at. Winter conditions tend to be better suited to more experienced riders.

Rotto graph can be deceiving the weather station is on the lighthouse hill approx 50mtr above sea level.
There will probably still be a few seabreezes in Perth yet, but yeah it's almost over
Winter winds are frontal/gusty and not good for beginners.
I kept hearing Far North Qld was the place to go for some wind during winter but I spent two weeks there in July last year, around Cairns, Pt Douglas, Cooktown and was less than impressed.
The only decent wind I got was on an Australian Kitesurfing Safari tour to Cape Flattery but even then it wasn't very consistent.

this'll be my first autumn watching the wind with an eye to kiting but I thought we were just waiting for the high pressure systems to **** off and die. www.bom.gov.au/products/IDG00074.shtml

winter kiting is fun if you don't mind being rained on and the occasional squall :)
I found it really improved my kite control last year. Usually get a run once a week. Theres usually a daring 4 or 5 at pinaroo. Wetties essential. Nothing like the dash to get to your car.
