Hi everyone
I'm new to kiteboarding but am really wanting to get involved and after having a few tries while on holiday I'd quite like to get my own kit. Can anyone give any advice on where to start though, there seem to be so many different brands and models out there, and for a newb like me I'm a bit lost....
Can anyone point me in the right direction...?
Cheers for any help! Pete.

Bad question to ask mate. The people in this sport are very bias. Everyone will tell you that the kite they ride is the best and everyone else sucks. Best people to talk to are multiple kite stores and unbias review online of kiters who are in the process of demoing all kites on the market. While some people will tell you that you should Demo kites to see which one fits you best, by the sounds of it you are not experienced enough to be demoing. I Have used a hell of alot of different kites and i recommend the following from each brand for a beginner.
Cabrinha - Switchblade
North - Rebel
Naish- Cult
Slingshot - t3 or KEY
Ozone - Sport (don't bother with the light)
Best - Haven't flown one since 06
Griffin- Griffin or Argo
Liquid Force - Hell no
Fone- Bandit----Great kite but not a great beginner kite IMO
And that abouts covers it from my experiance. Most importantly, buy a kite from a local dealer or that has support from local stores. Nothing worse than chasing parts from OS or interstate.

If you have only had a few tries on holidays then maby some time on a trainer kite and a lesson or two where your instructor can send you in the right direction for a larger kite.

Go for a lesson in your local area, your instructor will point you in the right direction and recommend what suits you best. Every brand in the market has got pretty good kites, main thing is the support you'll need from your instructor as you will have lots of questions and need a lot of help believe me.

Lexs post is pretty good- but i think the lf havoc rates a mention as well as the others, maybe the sligshot octane as well.

Well how about that. I started on a Havoc for about 2 months and then went to an Octane. Love the Octane. Loverboy your a genius.
