Hi Guys,
I am a newcomber to Kiting and have limited opportunity to get out over Summer was hoping to progress over the coming cooler months. I am looking to get a steamer wetsuit but not sure if a 3/2 or 4/2 would best suit the conditions around Adelaide during winter. Any advice would be welcolme.

Buy A good 4/3 wettie and you will be warm for all those cold fronts in winter.

I have used 3/2 for 2 winters. Feet and hands get cold, but they will do the same with 4/3. It does start to get a bit cold after a few hours, but I have kited in it in 10 degrees.

I guess it depends how quickly you get cold.

you'll be right with either 3/2 or 4/2 if you get something half decent, sealed and glued, I'd get a 4/3 because I like to be warmer, and you don't really notice the extra thickness when kiting. Another option is to get a 3/2 and where a hotskin under it on the really cold days

Buy a good sealed 4/3 wetsuit, I've used mine for around 3 or 4 years. The new 4/3 steamers are so flexible you wont notice the extra thickness, but you will be happier when your down south in the winter.

23Jetty sounds like ur only just learning and will potentially spend a fair bit of time in the water body dragging back to your board as we all do when learning. If this is the case then a 4/3 is probably the way to go as it gives you that extra warmth. If you past that stage already, are riding fairly competently and arent spending much time in the water body dragging a 3/2 should be fine. I only have a 3/2 which is more than enough for me in the depths of winter although you do get the cold hands and feet like saffieboy mentioned but will get that regardless of the thickness of ur wettie.

Hope that helps mate. Happy riding.

what's a wetsuit ? pussies !

it depends on the person- I will use a spring suit to get me through winter but a 3/2 should be nice and toasty me thinks....

Oneil make a wetsuit especially for kiting and windsurfing its called the windfreak, see them in adds in the overseas mags all the time apparently are made with different materials in the body to stop wind chill, see the boys at onboard to see if they can get them, just make sure you put your boardies on over top, or harden up and be a man like loverboy.

Thanks a lot for all the advice, think I might go the 4/3 option given I will no doubt be spending a fair bit of time in the water!

Much better than Hahn Super Dry....dam fine drop that Coopers clear- rumor is unlike Pale which you roll you should throw your Coopers clear into the sand dunes and then perform a stampy haka before you drink it.

a good sealed 3/2 will be better than a 4/3. warm enough and more flexible.
some 3/2 also have thermal linings eg F bomb has fireskin for that extra warmth
if you think it's necessary.
