Hello there

i am in need of advice and would appreciate anything anyone can give, my problem arises when riding right foot forward, basically after 25 years of left foot forward surfing i just struggle to do it. I cannot work out what i am doing wrong. (Althugh my weight is all to cock on the board, ie right foot holds all the pressure)

On rides right foot forward i can absolutly honk out, hold my line, even head up wind on those rare occassions, turning is still a drama but i am getting better slowly.

Anyone got any suggestions

T.O.W its all about T.O.W

time on Water. the more you spend at it the better you will get. Tips are to watch and feel what you are doing right on your good side and then apply that to your bad side. Think about foot placement, foot pressure, body twist, hip movement, head placement etc. Its all about training the brain and the body thru repertition. We all have/had a crap side that needs more work than our Natural side/stance. Dont worry about it it will all click into place. The more TOW the sooner it will come.

should be a whole week of wind ahead this week so get out every night....

TOW it is i will definatly be in the water much more this season, hopefully. I seem to be learning all the time, especially the foot placement thing that has improved no end.

It's funny i am looking real cool on the outward journey but look like a real flounder on the way back in.

thanks for the tips.

get a mutant. if you come from such a strong surffing back ground then try a mutant because it will feel more like a surf board and you wont have to ride with your bad foot forwards you just ride toeside instead.

I had been surfing for 25 years before I took up kiting a couple of years back, and you are right, that kiting on your wrong my wrong tack tack was a night mare. I could ride toe side heaps easier on a mutant than reverse on a twin tip. But, I wanted to do the twin tip thing bit, 3 days of getting smashed on the river trying to ride reverse, and I'm not kidding getting smashed, THEN ONE MOMENT riding reverse was a piece of piss.
Get smashed a lot on the river and you will get it. Like all things kiting, every thing new takes balls, but after you get the new move it seems really simple.
Keep trying, twin tips rule and flat water and in waves...
