Hi Piros,we stayed at the Outrigger on the beach above the famous Dukes bar How long are you staying and are you going to another Island.Make sure you have a meal at the cheese cake factory Tip massive meals one will feed two people and dont forget the free refill soft drinks
We stayed at the Princeville on Kaui, We've stayed in some nice hotels over the years and the Princeville is about a 10 star,we were told a lot of Famous people stay there, what an amazing Island great for sightseeing.

Hoping to celebrate my 50th in 2012,well thats my plan.Yes I am an old bugger
Have a blast you lucky bugger.

there is a few spots...

if you go to moku..its down the same street at the hyatt - and one street back.. there is a mexican restaurant on top of it. They are super helpful and friendly and that was the cheapest...but a bit limited on boards.it was abouut $14 p/h and $7 p/h for mals

There is also a sup hire place opposite honolulu zoo - near the aston waikiki (a few streets down) (henderson surf school) it has about 40 stand up paddle boards,,,but abit more expensive... looking at $25 per 1.5 hours - $80 for a day.

Be sure to surf the break way out at waikiki - its worth the paddle for less crowds. The sup hire on the beach is ok... looking about $20-25 p/h mals $10 p/h

Well even if I give the present to myself and of course the family in toe
Mate it was like going to Heaven and just surfing the Waikiki area and always looking and thinking about the history of surfing and the old beach boys.
Although I am not into surfing epic waves, just swimming at the famous surf breaks on the North Shore and surfing the South was a dream come true.

As for the paddle, no way I'll leave that to the young ones and guys like Iron Phil ,after an amusing race by all the Aussies and would only do them injustice.

I just got back from 3 weeks on the South Shore.I looked everywhere to hire a SUP and a Longboard. Most places have rubbish especially the guys on the beach. GoNuts on Kaiulani Avenue next to Kings Court had a reasonable selection at good rates, however I eventually hired my longboard from Hans Hedemans Surf School opposite the zoo near the Aston Waikiki. They had a good selection mainly Surftech but included many Takayama shapes. For my paddleboard I went to C4 on Coral Street Honolulu. These guys were great with a full range of their boards available for rental. They even unboxed a brand new 9'9 Slingblade for me. Over the period I got to try their whole surf range. Ask for Deano or Greg. Also Wet Feet on the Eastside has some great boards for rental.
I got great waves while I was there and lucked into 2 swells. They were calling it 1-3 feet but the take offs were definitely overhead. I surfed mainly Publics, Ala Moana Bowls and Queens and paddled Canoes and Tennis Courts plus Pops in front of the Sheraton. The vibe in the water was fine and the water & air temps perfect. Not much fun landing back home in winter though.
