Hey Girls,
What size boards do you usually ride?
Bit smaller than us boys?
130ish perhaps?
Cheers for the advice in advance!

Hey Muirs,
Yep - 130 ish is ballpark. I ride a 131x 39 twn tip (61kgs 174cms) and most girls I know ride between 128-132. Like blokes, board size is directly related to height, weight, ability and windspeed, although as a chick I’m prepared to trade a bit of robustness for a slightly lighter weight. If she’s learning it’s all about getting going easily /stability so maybe go slightly larger length with good width and don’t over do the rocker. After that, it’s all about the graphics haha !
Good luck – my board of choice atm is the LF aura and there’s heaps of other good stuff on the market.

I got a cardboard, 130cm, im 160cm and 53 kgs... cardboards let you pick from a massive range of board colours and designs and if you dont like any of them u can make up your own. $850 deliver, a super product and great customer service.
If she is a bit of a girly girl like me I am sure she will appreciate pink graphics
This is my board

Sweet! Cheers for the advice, yeah I was looking at a 128 board for her but unsure if it would be long enough for a beginner, but she's pretty small so it sounds like it should be ok.
Cheers!!

Muir, depends on her weight.

I am 60kg and ride a 135 FLX from underground.(this is a little big but easy to ride)
If she is light she might benefit from 128 to 132.

Hi Muirs and girls,

Like Hicko said board size for girls should be determined in the same way as for guys. The major influencing factors being your weight, height & skill level. Other factors that should definitely be considered are:
- what conditions you ride in ie. wind strength, consistency, water conditions etc.
- what other equipment you have, eg. harness, kite type & sizes, other boards.
- how often you're going to get out kitesurfng and your general fitness.
- what you want to achieve and what time frame you want to achieve it in.

I've been kitesurfing for nearly 8 years, involved in building and developing boards for nearly 7 of those. I've ridden many sizes of TT board from a 90x37cm through to a 167x38. I have found that my board choice definitely influences my riding style and how quickly I learn.

My current ride is a Decay Kiteboards Falcata 135x40 and at 65kg, 1,64m tall it's the board that works for me. I stick my tricks (eg. railey-to-blind) over 80% of the time on this size, but only 30% of the time when I switch down a size to the F131x39.

I like to have fun when I'm out kiting and going upwind easily and landing tricks regularly are part of that.

So think of what you want to achieve when selecting your board... when you get things right you're normally having fun, so make sure the board's going to be fun to ride where you ride most often.

So Muirs make sure your girl has fun - if she's learning a bigger board means she may be able to get away with a smaller kite and still get up and planing, without the fear of being over powered.

Happy kiting

Su :)
