Hey mate, my heart really bleeds for you. Try us "east coasters" who have had the worst summer, well that I can remember anyway. Lucky if we have had 1 or 2 kites with waves greater than 2'.

Unpack, wash off all salt and sand, clean, scrub, neatly refold, lubricate, restack and organise ALL kite or windsurf gear in the car/shed.garage/spare room so it looks like new. It is sure to be w***y the next day in the same way it rains when you clean/wax the car. But never, never mention the 'w' word - the gods are listening. Failing that, head to beach, pour a beer into sea for Neptune.

ha,

yeah not sympathy from the east side.
As much as this is a bad season for wind, I would have said last season was even worse for NSW?

On East Coast as well reported it has been as bad as it gets for almost 12 months.

So last March I added SUP to my interests so now things have further got worse even with this combination. Wife has got me going to Salsa dancing and I am going to the Gym.

Bring back the wind.

Can't complain, no substantial SB was forecast today but I've just come in off an overpowered 9m, got somewhere else to be for an hour but will be back down on the 7m soon enough.

Amen...

If we all burnt all of our kites at the same time we might just generate enough of a seabreeze for that 5 year old kid to get going on a 16m kite

DUDE... you've got it all wrong... the beer goes in your mouth.
I can remember quite a few days when i've been sat at the beach.... is it going to come in.... is it... ooh there's a puff... no not quite... oh fark it, go home for an arvo beverage, consume 3-4 beers and it's guaranteed to kick up to 15 knots. Am i too pissed to kite? Maybe not, get someone else to drive..... get back to the beach.... pump up (gee that seemed harder than usual) put your harness on upside down.... damn it! Better sit this one out. Then sit back and watch spontaneous 4 foot swell roll in and a steady 15knot breeze.

I've been pretty pleased with the season here in Newcastle. Sure, it's been an unusual year & there's been plenty of sailing in the rain, but we've had pretty regular southerlies & loads of good swell.

that looks good to me!...

but then i only need 5 knots to get going on the landboard, 8 knots for jumping..... 12 knots for massive glides. oh yeah you water only guys miss out on decent kiting 8-12 knots..... hahahahaha... buy a landboard and have some fun.

then when the wind hits 15 knots i step into the water and the fun continues.

ps forecast is only good for 2 days. after that its just a guess.

Its actually the fifth year in a row of ordinary summers and little wind but agreed it is the worst of them (when measureed by NE sea breezes and sunny days that are not as humid as Darwin, tho i must say when there has been wind there has often been great waves here in newcastle NE and S) and very tricky /nigh impossible for beginners.
So here's some advice, its earn serious brownie points time and don't complain you get 5 years worth of east coast wind in a month .Don't even talk about kiting and don;t venture to the beach in the forlorn hope of a kite .If you go it has got to be for non kite related activities .Do all the jobs and things that have been put off due to DOW.

1. Virgins are getting real hard to find.
2. Well, ones of suitable quality anyway.
3. The Council no longer allow fires on the beach and we all know that's where you have to burn your boards.
4. Don't waste it by pouring your beer into the sea. I'm sure nobody likes their beer watered down 1:1,000,000,000,000.....
5. I realised late last night that Phil aka puppet could be Huey himself, but prob has been too busy with his two shops of late. Makes sense, see?
6. Is this a ploy by Laurie to increase Seabreeze whinge traffic for his advertisers? Can't be sure but let's burn him anyway!!!!
7. Maybe its the SUPpers. Burn them.

FIRE! FFIIRRREEE! RAAAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!

...ahem, yea... Some nice regular seabreezes would be really good.

09/10 I kited over 60 times in 3 months in summer. only owned a 8m. Couldnt physically kite anymore

10/11 had to buy a 10m, still kited alot but did 2500km+ driving for wind

This year...considering buying a 12m. Hardly felt like I kited and summers offically over in 3 weeks.

Bad season here is better than best season I ever had in NSW. Problem is the season is so short so you have a bad month and thats 1/3 of the season gone.

We are getting some good sea breezes in Melbourne this week after the recent storms. It's the luck of the draw. Overall summer has been good, enough to need a rest between sessions. I would love to kite at Geraldton though.

Hey Daavy the only sacrifice you need to make is a bit of fuel money and time to travel, I just had four days off and was on the 5 or 7 for at least 3 hours everyday.
sat contacio's, sun lancelin, mon-tues wedge!!!!
Must admit it doesn't look to flash for the next few days but hey I've gotta work anyway, if I wasn't I'd be hitting the South Coast it was 30+ knots all day today at Cape Leeuwin/Augusta.
