Great to see the disabled getting into kiting. Pity is these people did not seem to be physically restricted.
Must be a mental handicap

Or maybe their just windsurfers, although not disabled they are generally older and deserve a shorter walk to the beach when there is no 'elderly' spots.

If the cops ever ventured down there than maybe they'd issue a ticket. Guess its too dangerous for them though. All that crime going on, they avoid it like the plague. Cars being broken into every week and they don't give a ****.

How often do disabled people use woodies? I kited there for 5 years and can only remember seeing visually handicapped people there less than a handful of times. Everyone has to give up pole position just so once every blue moon someone who has a disability can use it!?! Parking is at a premium on most days down there, the cops basically do nothing about all the break ins yet they want people to obey parking allocations? Honestly wouldn't surprise me if they started giving people 500$ fines for parking in a disabled park without an ACROD sticker- pretty much how the legal system works.

Is there 2 disabled parks there now? Sure I'll park in the dirt in break in central and carry all my kite gear 500m to the beach, lol. At shopping centres etc. sure why not, this is completely different.

cops won't do **** about someone parking in a disabled carpark . It's a council issue so call the ranger or westoz submit those photo's with a picture of the dash showing they are not displaying an acrod pass to the shire of cockburn

No excuse for parking in a disabled spot.

(taking my moderator hat off for a moment)

Should help them find a temporary disability, like the inability to drive...

love the red thumbs for my post . Was being serious . You red thumb fanbois realise it is a council issue not police . I have successfully had people fined for parking in disabled zones by taking a frontal pic of their car and a pic of the windscreen without the permit and emailed it to the local council .

But please red thumb this post as well , it's the seabreeze way

The issue isn't "how often disabled people use Woodies..." - the issue is access & equity. Disabled people might want to go to Woodies to watch kiters, possibly go for a swim, go fishing or simply take in some fresh air, feel the wind in their hair, or go for a walk.

Those bays are there to ensure those members of society - who most likely don't have as many options for recreation as the rest of us - are ensured access to Woodies for their recreational pursuit(s) - which are as legitimate as ours.

Get a life....

most times i wait around the car for a few minutes and if nothing then i email off the pics , think of me what you want but at the end of the day it's a handicap zone and if they are a genuine handicap person they can get off the fine , If not then suck it up and pay it .

if you did that to me, i'd take the council to court, then when challenged they'd have to get you to front up, then when you did, i'd pay the fine and shove your camera fair up your arse

Must've been centrelink day. 3 cars and not one broken window!

I'd rather the council/police were more interested in putting the thieves where they belong than running around issuing parking tickets. Definitely inconsiderate idiots, but perhaps concentrate on the criminals first?

Hmmmm, this thread sums up the problem with kiting these days. I thought kitesurfers were generally good people. I might be wrong.

Not cool to deliberately park in a handicapped spot.

If Woodies is such a bad spot for break ins then go somewhere else?

Or maybe shoot down there on your rollerblades..........

Yeah, the need for disabled parking at a carpark hemmed three sides by sand cannot be underestimated...

Its a good thing that you teach them a lesson by disabling their car too, that way, if there was an emergency, like someone at the beach needed to be rushed to hospital, or the dude who parked in the spazzy spot gets a call saying something along the lines of..."hey, your loved one is in critical condition get here asap, they're not gonna make it..", they'll be thankful of the lesson you've given them on not parking in a spot which ultimately holds little relevance considering its location...

Yeah ! Name and shame, I say, just way too many inconsiderate a r s e h o l e s out there, I have seen wheelchair bound individuals on a beach in the past and I'll no doubt see someone less fortunate, in a wheelchair on a beach, again in the future. Some of ya need to pull your heads out of a dark place, don't forget to wash the brown ring mark off, ay . J

I certainly do not condone parking in disabled bays, this is absolutely sick and they certainly should get a fine and I would probably have a slight smirk on my face when I see the ranger giving them a fine.

I just can't stand people who dob in other people.
Your threat of litigation also reinforce my views.

Unfortunately, because of people such as yourself and your yankee style habit of taking people to court at any opportunity, our life is being greatly affected on a daily basis.

No more fun activities available for our kids as the insurance premium prevents operators from even considering a business venture.

Where are all the quad rentals, sand boarding tours....
Gone because of people like you.

The few remaining activities (kite schools) have to charge $150 an hour to cover their insurance premium.

The lawyers love you tho, they have a roaring trade.

FYI, I don't just talk, I was asphyxiated to unconsciousness at my last surfer's ear operation as the anaesthetist gave me the wrong chemical accidently and instead of putting me to sleep, it stopped my breathing while fully conscious!!!!

I call it human error, despite evryone telling me that I had hit the jackpot, I requested a copy of a written report to make sure that proper procedures are being implemented so it doesn't happen to you in the future.

I personally believe that no-one should EVER financially profit from suing for injuries.
of course they could sue to punish bad practice but all proceeds would be donated to a non profit organisation (salvation army, disabled association...).

99% of the claims would stop and the charitable organisation would be so cashed up that they would actually have the means to assist whenever you are in difficulties.

The lawyers would go broke and the world would be a much better place.
Won't happen tho

Some great comments here, great to see people that don't understand the spot piping up. As with everything it the pro's and con's of the ACROD parking bays must be weighed up- they aren't everywhere.

My point is
-Members of the general public are less likely to use the beach when it is windy
-People with a physical disability are less likely to travel to a relatively remote place where they will have difficulty traveling over the sand/rocks.
-When it is windy the car park is past capacity as it stands, people are "illegally" parking in the dirt
-Parking further away increases your break in chance and is a inconvenience to those carrying equipment (kiting or windsurfing)
-When its not windy the car park is never really even close to 1/4 full- plenty of spots for people with ACROD stickers to double park

Your point that "people with a physical disability are less likely to go..." blah blah blah...is missing the point ENTIRELY.

Just because it's windy doesn't justify anyone, kiter or not, parking in a disabled bay - what's your answer to the person who can't get to Woodies when it's windy, because they can't get a car park???

There is no excuse, windy or not, to park in a disabled bay. The break in situation @ Woodies is one thing, hiding behind that as justification to park in a disabled bay is pathetic. Oh, and I do know the spot...

I don't miss the point entirely theres different ways of assessing these dilemas you take a universal right/wrong approach to the arguement where i take a greater good arguement. I recognise your point of view i just wish to clarify my points. Neither is right/wrong, i do think taking pics of other kiters is a dog move though

Don't worry doctor i messages emailed that shire/council (and posted reply on here) with concerns 4 years ago about the lack of infrastructure in-conjunction with the high level of water users in that area I was shocked when i went down there.. The council stated that the area is owned by the DEC. There was no future plan to change woodies by the shire of cockburn and make it more accommodating to an ever increasing amount of water users.
Haven't been back there in 4 years.
Im not supprized people are parking in handicap areas. (which i think is inexcusable.) But hey we all done it right.. "shotgun is usually the designated retarted"

Call a tow truck there just hanging to get a jobs like that!
