Weather Situation
Slow moving high pressure centres over New South Wales and central Australia
will maintain a ridge through southern Queensland and along the north
Queensland coast during the forecast period.

Torres Strait

Forecast for Monday 28 July until midnight
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1.5 to 2 metres. Swell: East to
southeasterly below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres outside the reef.

Forecast for Tuesday 29 July
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Swell: East to
southeasterly below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres outside the reef.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 July
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1.5 to 2 metres. Swell: East to
southeasterly 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to around 1 metre during the evening.

Peninsula Coast: Sharp Point to Cape Melville

Forecast for Monday 28 July until midnight
Strong Wind Warning for Monday for Peninsula Coast
Winds: Southeasterly 25 to 30 knots. Seas: 1.5 to 2 metres, increasing to 2.5
to 3 metres outside the reef. Swell: East to southeasterly 1 to 2 metres
outside the reef.

Forecast for Tuesday 29 July
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Swell: Easterly 1
to 2 metres outside the reef, decreasing to 1 to 1.5 metres by early evening.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 July
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 30 knots. Seas: 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Swell: Easterly 1
to 1.5 metres outside the reef.

Cooktown Coast: Cape Melville to Cape Tribulation

Forecast for Monday 28 July until midnight
Strong Wind Warning for Monday for Cooktown Coast
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots, reaching up to 30 knots north of Cooktown
in the afternoon. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres
outside the reef. Swell: Easterly 1 to 2 metres outside the reef, decreasing to
1 to 1.5 metres by early evening.

Forecast for Tuesday 29 July
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5
to 2.5 metres outside the reef. Swell: Easterly 1 to 1.5 metres outside the
reef, decreasing to around 1 metre later in the evening.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 July
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5
to 2 metres outside the reef. Swell: Easterly around 1 metre outside the reef,
increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon.

Cairns Coast: Cape Tribulation to Cardwell

Forecast for Monday 28 July until midnight
Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore north of
Innisfail in the morning. Seas: 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing to 1.5 metres
during the afternoon. Swell: Easterly 1 to 1.5 metres outside the reef.

Forecast for Tuesday 29 July
Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to
1.5 metres outside the reef. Swell: Easterly 1 to 1.5 metres outside the reef,
decreasing to around 1 metre by early evening.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 July
Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to
1.5 metres outside the reef. Swell: Easterly around 1 metre outside the reef,
increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon or evening.

Townsville Coast: Cardwell to Bowen

Forecast for Monday 28 July until midnight
Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots turning easterly in the late afternoon.
Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres outside the reef. Swell:
Easterly around 1 metre outside the reef.

Forecast for Tuesday 29 July
Winds: Southeasterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots offshore during
the day. Winds turning easterly in the evening. Seas: Around 1 metre,
increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning. Swell: Easterly around 1
metre outside the reef.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 July
Winds: Easterly 10 to 15 knots. Seas: Around 1 metre. Swell: Easterly below 1
metre outside the reef.

Mackay Coast: Bowen to St Lawrence

Forecast for Monday 28 July until midnight
Winds: Southeasterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots offshore north of
Mackay in the late morning and early afternoon. Seas: Around 1 metre,
increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres around midday, then decreasing to 1 metre during
the afternoon. Swell: Northeasterly below 1 metre offshore.

Forecast for Tuesday 29 July
Winds: East to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots. Seas: Below 1 metre. Swell: Below
0.5 metres.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 July
Winds: Easterly 10 to 15 knots. Seas: Below 1 metre. Swell: Below 0.5 metres.
