Weather Situation
A weak high across the Tasman into the southern Coral Sea is creating a ridge
up the Queensland coast which is producing a moderate to fresh southeasterly
wind flow over Great Barrier Reef Offshore Waters.

Forecast for Tuesday 3 March until midnight

Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots.
Seas: 1.7 metres.
Swell: SE 1 to 1.5 metres in the Capricorn Channel.
Weather: Isolated showers.

Forecast for Wednesday 4 March

Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots during the morning.
Seas: 1.7 metres.
Swell: SE 1 to 1.5 metres in the Capricorn Channel
Weather: Isolated showers.

Forecast for Thursday 5 March
Winds: Southeast to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots, becoming variable 10 knots during
the day, then north to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots during the late evening.
Seas: 1.2 metres
Swell: SE 1 to 1.5 metres in the Capricorn Channel.
Weather: Isolated showers.

Weather Situation - Queensland Gulf of Carpentaria
A generally light wind flow will persist over Gulf of Carpentaria waters during
the forecast period as the monsoon trough remains focused further west through
Western Australian waters.

Weather Situation - North Queensland
A high in the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast.
The high will then shift east while weakening during Wednesday, gradually
relaxing the ridge. A trough will enter the eastern tropical interior during
Thursday and Friday.

Weather Situation - South Queensland
A high in the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge into southern Queensland waters.
The ridge will relax from the south tonight and Wednesday as the high shifts
further east and weakens. A trough will move northwards along the New South
Wales coast during Thursday and is expected to enter far southern Queensland
waters Thursday evening.
