Weather Situation

A high pressure system centred over the southern New South Wales coast extends
a ridge of high pressure along Queensland's east coast. The high will move
slowly eastwards into the Tasman Sea from tomorrow. This will see the ridge
initially strengthen, before weakening again mid week.

Forecast for Tuesday 23 September until midnight

Winds: SE 20 to 25 knots.
Seas: 1.7 to 2.2 metres.
Swell: SE near 2 metres in the Capricorn Channel.

Forecast for Wednesday 24 September

Winds: E to SE 15 to 20 knots, easing to 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon.
Seas: 1.2 to 1.7 metres.
Swell: SE 1 to 2 metres in the Capricorn Channel.

Forecast for Thursday 25 September
Winds: E to NE 10 to 15 knots.
Seas: 1.2 metres.
Swell: SE below 1.5 metres.

A high pressure system over western Tasman Sea extends a ridge of high pressure
along Queensland's east coast. The high will move slowly eastwards over the
next few days with the ridge gradually relaxing.

South East Gulf of Carpentaria: QLD-NT Border to Cape Keerweer

Forecast for Tuesday 23 September until midnight
Winds: Northeast to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending northwest to
southwesterly in the evening then becoming variable about 10 knots in the late
evening. Seas: Below 1 metre.

Forecast for Wednesday 24 September
Winds: Variable about 10 knots becoming east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots
before dawn then becoming variable about 10 knots in the early afternoon. Seas:
Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning, then
decreasing below 1 metre during the afternoon.

Forecast for Thursday 25 September
Winds: Northeast to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending southeast to
southwesterly during the afternoon then becoming variable about 10 knots during
the evening. Seas: Around 1 metre.

North East Gulf of Carpentaria: Cape Keerweer to Crab Island

Forecast for Tuesday 23 September until midnight
Winds: East to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots offshore
north of Cullen Point in the evening. Winds tending south to southeasterly in
the evening then tending east to southeasterly in the late evening. Seas:
Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore north of Cullen Point by
early evening.

Forecast for Wednesday 24 September
Winds: Easterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore north of
Cullen Point in the late morning. Winds turning south to southeasterly 10 to 15
knots during the afternoon and evening then tending east to southeasterly 15 to
20 knots in the late evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing below 1 metre
during the afternoon, then increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres later in the evening.

Forecast for Thursday 25 September
Winds: East to southeasterly 15 to 20 knots becoming variable about 10 knots
during the afternoon then becoming southeast to southwesterly 15 to 20 knots
during the evening. Seas: Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres
offshore north of Weipa.

Torres Strait

Forecast for Tuesday 23 September until midnight
Winds: Southeasterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore east of
Cape York in the evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres
during the afternoon. Swell: East to southeasterly below 1 metre, increasing to
around 1 metre outside the reef.

Forecast for Wednesday 24 September
Winds: Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots. Seas: 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Swell: East to
southeasterly below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 2 metres outside the reef.

Swell: East to southeasterly 1 to 2 metres outside the reef.

Winds: Easterly 15 to 20 knots turning southeasterly in the morning. Seas:
Below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres outside the reef. Swell: Easterly
1.5 to 2.5 metres outside the reef.

Winds: East to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots decreasing to about 10 knots during

Townsville Coast: Cardwell to Bowen

Forecast for Tuesday 23 September until midnight
Winds: Easterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore south of
Mackay in the late afternoon. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2
metres offshore south of Mackay. Swell: East to northeasterly around 1 metre
offshore, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning.

Forecast for Wednesday 24 September
Winds: Easterly 15 to 20 knots. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre
around midday. Swell: East to northeasterly around 1 metre offshore.

Forecast for Thursday 25 September
Winds: East to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending north to northeasterly

Capricornia Coast: St Lawrence to Burnett Heads

Winds: Easterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots inshore in the late
afternoon. Seas: 1.5 to 2 metres. Swell: Easterly 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing
to 1 to 2 metres offshore.

Winds: Easterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots north of Agnes Water
early in the morning. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the
morning. Swell: Easterly 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres in
northern waters.

Winds: Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots turning northerly during the day. Seas:
