Coastal Waters Forecast for South Australia
Issued at 5:10 am CST on Monday 7 July 2008
valid until midnight Wednesday.

Warnings
A Strong Wind Warning is current for the West, South Central and South East
Coasts and Spencer Gulf south of Cowell to Wallaroo.

Synoptic Situation
At 0300 Monday a cold front near Port Lincoln is expected to reach Adelaide
around 9 am and the Victorian border around midday. Another cold front will
cross South Australian coastal waters later Wednesday and early Thursday.

Far West Coast:
Monday until midnight : Wind: SW/S 18/23 knots easing to 13/18 knots late
afternoon and 8/13 knots in the evening. Sea: 1.5 to 2.5 m abating 1 to 1.5 m.
Swell: SW 3.5 to 4.5 m.
Tuesday : Wind: SW/NW 3/8 knots, becoming NW 10/15 knots by late morning and
reaching 15/20 knots offshore. Sea: 0.5 to 1 m rising 1 to 1.5 m.
Swell: SW 3 to 4m decreasing 2 to 3 m.
Wednesday : Wind: NW/W 15/25 knots shifting SW 15/25 knots late afternoon or
evening.

West Coast:
Strong Wind Warning.
Monday until midnight : Wind: SW/S 20/30 knots easing to 18/23 knots late
afternoon and 13/18 knots in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms south of
Elliston early morning. Sea: 2 to 3 m abating 1 to 2 m. Swell: SW 3.5 to 4.5 m.

Tuesday : Wind: SW 13/18 knots easing to 8/13 knots late morning, turning W/NW
in the afternoon and freshening to 13/18 knots in the evening. Sea: 1 to 2 m.
Swell: SW 4 to 5 m decreasing 3 to 4 m.
Wednesday : Wind: NW 15/25 knots increasing to 20/30 knots during the morning
shifting SW 20/30 knots late afternoon or evening.

Gulf Waters:
Strong Wind Warning.
Monday until midnight : Wind: W/NW 15/20 knots, ahead of a SW/S change 20/25
knots during the morning, reaching 20/30 knots on Spencer Gulf south of Cowell
to Wallaroo until early evening. Isolated thunderstorms. Sea: 1.5 to 2.5 m.
Swell: SW 2 to 3 m on southern Spencer Gulf, W/SW 1 to 2 m on southern Gulf St
Vincent.
Tuesday : Wind: SW 18/23 knots easing to W/SW 13/18 knots during the
afternoon. Sea: 1 to 2 m. Swell: SW 2 to 3 m on southern Spencer Gulf, W/SW 1 to
2 m on southern Gulf St Vincent.
Wednesday : Wind: NW 10/20 knots increasing to 15/25 knots south of Cowell to St
Kilda during the morning then shifting SW 15/25 knots from the south late
evening.

South Central Coast:
Strong Wind Warning.
Monday until midnight : Wind: W/NW 15/20 knots ahead of a SW change 20/30
knots west of Kangaroo Island early morning, and the remainder during the day.
Isolated thunderstorms, contracting east of Kangaroo Island by evening. Sea: 2
to 3 m. Swell: SW 3 to 4 m on exposed waters increasing 4 to 5 m.
Tuesday : Wind: SW 20/30 knots easing to 18/23 knots during the morning, then
SW/NW 15/20 knots in the afternoon and evening. Sea: 2 to 3 m abating 1 to 2 m.
Swell: SW 4 to 5 m on exposed waters decreasing 3 to 4 m.
Wednesday : Wind: South and west of Kangaroo Island: NW 15/25 knots increasing
to 20/30 knots during the morning then strengthening NW/W 25/35 knots during the
afternoon ahead of a SW change 25/35 knots. Remainder: NW 10/20 knots increasing
to 15/25 knots during the morning and reaching 20/30 knots late afternoon ahead
of a SW change 20/30 knots late evening.

South East Coast:
Strong Wind Warning.
Monday until midnight : Wind: NW 13/18 knots, gradually turning SW/S 18/23
knots during the morning, increasing to 20/30 knots from the west during the
afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms. Sea: 1 to 2 m, rising 2 to 3 m. Swell: SW 2
to 3 m increasing 3 to 4 m.
Tuesday : Wind: SW 20/30 knots easing to 18/23 knots during the afternoon and
13/18 knots in the evening. Isolated early morning thunderstorms. Sea: 2 to 3 m
abating 1 to 2 m. Swell: SW 4 to 5 m decreasing 3 to 4 m.
Wednesday : Wind: W/NW 10/20 knots becoming NW 20/30 knots during the day before
increasing to 25/35 knots during the afternoon or evening. A SW change at 25/35
knots in the evening.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 3:30 pm CST Monday.
