Weather Situation A high pressure ridge to the south of Tasmania will weaken on Saturday. A low pressure trough will cross South Australia on Saturday to reach western Bass Strait about dawn Sunday then pass Point Lonsdale about midday and reach Gabo Island about 2100 Sunday. A cold front will follow this trough by about six hours and an associated deepening low will slide southeastwards to the south of Tasmania on Monday. Another cold front embedded in a westerly airflow will cross Bass Strait late on Monday. West Coast: SA-VIC Border to Cape Otway Forecast for Saturday 4 February until midnight Winds: Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending north to northwesterly this evening. Afternoon inshore sea breezes at 10 to 15 knots. Seas: Up to 1.5 metres. Swell: Southwesterly 2 metres. Forecast for Sunday 5 February Winds: North to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending northwesterly around dawn then tending westerly up to 30 knots during the morning. Seas: Below 1 metre increasing to 3 metres around midday. Swell: Southwesterly 2 metres increasing to 3 metres late in the evening. Forecast for Monday 6 February Winds: Westerly 20 to 30 knots. Seas: Up to 3 metres decreasing to 2 metres during the afternoon. Swell: Southwesterly 3 to 4 metres. Central Coast: Cape Otway to Wilsons Promontory Forecast for Saturday 4 February until midnight Winds: East to northeasterly 10 to 20 knots increasing to 15 to 25 knots offshore this evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres this evening. Swell: Southwesterly 0.5 to 1.5 metres. Forecast for Sunday 5 February Winds: North to northeasterly 15 to 25 knots tending north to northwesterly 20 to 30 knots around midday then shifting westerly during the afternoon.
