SYNOPTIC ANALYSIS Analysis

Issued at 4:55am WST
on Saturday the 4th of February 2012
SYNOPTIC SITUATION AND FORECAST EXPLANATION:
A strong ridge of high pressure will develop south of the state during the in the wake of a cold front moving along the south coast. An onshore flow will produce isolated showers near the southern and Eucla coasts, tending scattered over parts of the Eucla at first. Moisture left over from the recent rain over southern parts of the state will produce some morning drizzle over the Goldfields and southeastern Gascoyne, as well as adjacent parts of the SW Land Division and the Interior. An onshore flow should also result in isolated early morning showers and drizzle along the Gascoyne coast. A middle level disturbance is currently producing isolated thunderstorms over the southern Interior and northeast Eucla, which should clear during the morning. In the Kimberley, isolated thunderstorms and showers remain confined to far northern and western parts. A surface trough may trigger afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the northeast Interior.
PROGNOSIS
Prognosis

On Monday the ridge develops further and isolated showers redevelop in along the Eucla coast for a period in the morning. The trough across northern parts lingers, with a heat low forming over the western Pilbara. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms and showers possible in the northern Kimberley and also far west inland Pilbara near the low.
On Tuesday a trough deepens near the west coast. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms and showers possible in the northern Kimberley and also near the trough north of Jurien Bay.
