Sorry I'll be the dissenter. Lol
the atomIQ was famously unpopular as it was so eggy as to be dragging at planing threshold. If you love it then great - but anything new might feel so different to you that's not so easy as to ask 'what is similar'
I suggest nothing is
maybe ride before buy will be needed
I'll have to 100% disagree on this one. I've owned three of them all the same size or 100 L every time I sold them to get something better.
Ended up buying back because for Freerace Free ride going fast in a huge wide range of conditions and sale sizes there's nothing like it and proofs in the pudding.
Slow to plain draggy? NO, Stable Yes , you do have to push it a little bit off the wind. It's relatively short but nothing in comparison to for example the Futura which is crazily needing to be pushed off the wind and has less the one I had an overly excessive front rocker, zero glide stop start, fast when you get it going but nothing before hand, the carve, the one I had was only a couple of seasons ago and I'm not sure why they called it a carve because that's the one thing it was absolutely crap at... didn't really get that Board at all, It was neither here or there not fast not manoeuvrable just dull. Probably good for a beginner maybe?
The nose profile on that Atom being a little bit more traditional pointed rather than the Flatt end helps with the profile of the board and the rails and the gybe ability no doubt. It's a very durable Board aside from the paint the wood carbon finish. It's a little bit of forgiveness as well and the extra thick deck pads are awesome as well. Does my head in why any board manufacturer doesn't use Double padding? It's just crazy.
