Anybody have any training sessions to get their fitness up for the weekend of windsurfing. The drinking session should not be a problem but on a serious note on the windsurfing.Any feed back would be appreciated.

Biggest thing that held me back in 08 was not being used to having all my weight on my back leg for so long. Those long downwinders are a killer on the calves!

Actually doing long downwind runs would be good training, but it is not really practical, unless you have a buddy to drive you back. The L2L markers are so far downwind that most people couldn't reach them on one tack.

My advice: Just windsurf lots and do some squats / heel raises in the shower every night

According to Guy Cribb in WindSurf magazine: use a single back strap.

Agree with "buy a kite"

Seriously though, get a good rowing machine, does shoulders, arms, abs, lower back and legs in one hit

Cheers

Knots i will be doing some down winders this season as trainng. Feel free to join me. We can leave from Koombanna bay and sail to Bins.
The hardest thing i found was not so much sailing broard, but sailing broard over large swells.
I think big sail smaller board may be the way to go IMHO.
