Gotta love how bhp gives 100 mil back to the local community...

of which, 50 mil is for airport upgrades and 20 mil to upgrade the roads leading to the airport...

those stickers you see on the back of lowered utes, driven by monosymbalic geniuses with awesomely original and subtle half body tribal tattoos, need to be edited to read...

F##K OFF, we're full... Of dumb cants

Rudd tried that but was rolled by Gillard and co. They thought Rudd was getting bad poll numbers. Little did they know.......

Perhaps if Rudd had called it something other than the SUPER PROFITS MINING TAX, it would have worked out for him.

Another very clever example of this style of thing is "Ronald McDonald House". A worthwhile charity indeed, but Macca gets all the credit, while it's funded by their customers' donations. How clever is that??

I don't love their food (I worked there from 14 to 16) but I do find it a bit ironic:

Who gets all the cr@p for having the worst food, doing nothing for the community, etc? McDonalds.

Yet they:
Sell apples. Salads. Seared chicken meals. Cereal or muffins with vegemite for breakfast. etc.
Moved to vege oils from lard.
Publish all their nutritional info and easy fact sheets, have the calories/kj right there on the menu.
Run the RM house charity, and have McHappy day where $1 per burger goes to RMH charity.
Are actually really involved in small local community charities, school events, etc. (yes, definitely some 'get the kids hooked' factor, but still they're supporting them)

Meanwhile what does KFC do?
Keep fryin that chicken in the same old animal fat.
Bring out a 'burger' where the bread is replaced by chicken fillets.
Fry some more chicken.
cut chicken into smaller pieces, more surface area to soak up more oil
fry some more chicken.

And yet who gets the bad rep?

Rudd's problem was that he went and sold the MRRT to the mid-tiered miners first without much consultation with BHP, Rio and Xstrata. Those guys were seriously annoyed, and all have a collective dislike of the smaller guys like FMG.

With 4 Corners done, haven't laughed so much as I did last night watching Q&A. No one was safe from Barry Humphries and others on the panel.

You can winge and bitch if you like, but keep in mind that if all these people you criticise shut down their companies tomorrow, thousands of people go on the dole and all you get is some dirt in the ground that neither you nor I have the money to dig up and sell.
Rather than sit on your fat ass and winge, why don't you do what they did and get out there, start up your own mining company and make your own fortune?
It's because it's easier to winge and bitch about those who made the effort, got out there and made something of themselves and the country.

I will again remind everyone, Australia did NOT buy it's way out of this recession with money made from agriculture, tourism, science, etc.
We side stepped it almost entirely with money made in and due to the mining industry and then splashed out in an unproductive and wasteful manner on the general population. 20 billion dollars of it.
Like it or not, that's the fact.

Mmmm I'd sugggest the 4 TRILLION Yuan (thats around $700 Billion to us) stimulus package that China implemented in 2008 may have had a bit to do with shielding us from the worldwide shutdown.
Wonder if this 'n will be as good?

No. But her father did. He started with very little and battled all the typically useless governments that tried to bog him down with red tape, regulations and typical government resistance. After a lifetime of hard work in mostly harsh conditions, he finally achieved something great.
Are you critical because of that?
Because he succeeded?
Because he ended up with more than you?
And, Like it or not, she inherited from her father in exactly the same way that everyone else inherits from theirs.
Who should have got that inheritance?
You?
That would be a gross injustice wouldn't it?

And unlike the rest of us that usually blow their inheritance on wine, women and song and then have very little or even less than they started with, she has not only preserved what she was left but made it even greater.

I should add that I don't know her or any of the others you mentions but it does gripe me that people are so quick to dish out the sour grapes to any who succeed in making something of themselves. Particularly when the country is doing so well on the back of it.
I might also add that I don't agree with everything they do but I think the boundless criticism and sledging of our own people is unjustified and WAY over the top.

Too simplistic ?
Mining is great, we need raw materials and lots of people have made a good life from it but that dos'nt mean that rampant greed and sodomising my beloved state any way you can to feed the beast is a good plan for a happy society.

Time to ask " are we here to serve mining or is mining here to serve us "

Hey pweedas You say do something great, if the life gina seems to have made for herself is great then I am a lot more lost than I ever imagined.

Wasn't she the woman that stood on the back of that flatbed truck and told those doting sapps that the new mining tax would ruin her and the country???

Isn't she bankrolling all the right wing, climate change deniers....the I.P.A.....More "Lord" Monckton anyone?

Personally i don't give a rats if she has cash its how she behaves even her own children can't stand her.

Trying to control the media, moaning about a fair tax, denying climate change, and generally being a cvnt.

She gives nothing not a scrap back to WA and if the iron ore ran out she would leave without a second thought for anyone.
